I haven't used a p2p more then once every couple months for quite some time... the only one I have installed though is limewire so I guess that one :S
I used to have kazaa installed but it was evil so I burnt it at the stake and replaced it. MOstly I stick to bit torrents now instead of p2p proggies |

Personally, I use Ares (http://www.aresgalaxy.org).
It is a really stable free p2p program with hundreds of thousands of users and best of all, it's quick loading and has no adware/spyware/viruses with it. I used to use Shareaza, but I couldn't deal with the number of dead or half-completed files it allowed. It once took me two hours to download a 5Kb text file with the tutorial on Run commands. I know that wasn't shareaza's fault, but rather the user group. |

Most P2P applications have viruses, adware, spyware or malware packed with them. I've used just about every single program so I'll make a helpful list of programs and their safety levels.
Name: Bearshare (Full) Web Address: http://www.bearshare.com/ Risk Level: High Name: Bearshare (Lite) Web Address: http://www.bearshare.com/lite/ Risk Level: Low Name: Kazaa Web Address: http://www.kazaa.com/ Risk Level: High Name: Limewire Web Address: http://www.limewire.com/ Risk Level: Low Name: Morpheus Web Address: http://www.morpheus.com/ Risk Level: Medium Name: Shareaza Web Address: http://shareaza.sourceforge.net/ Risk Level: Medium Name: eMule Web Address: http://www.emule-project.net/ Risk Level: Low I recommend Bearshare Lite or Limewire. |

I personally use Imesh. http://imesh.com it is mainly for music downloads, but the version 5.0 lets you download whatever is available.
I have used it to get quite a few things, but yeah. try it and you'll find it out for yourself. The Risk Level is probably Medium, everything i have downloaded has been virus free, but i have heard people are getting viruses are from it. |

Im currently using Limewire, it filters out many of the obvious bogus files really well. I remember when I was using Kazza, all the downloads would give me a really high pitched eerie sound. Im assuming RIAA is trying to fill up the kazza with bogus files so people would stray away from downloading files. But since I found limewire, I have been having great results for my search for things. I have yet to find a file that I didnt keep because it was currupted or a bad file at the worst.

Like a lot of people, I used a lot of P2P software. Basically, I've tried them all except for the Spyware-infested ones. I even used Morpheus and Kazaa, despite their enormous amount of Adware. And my personal favourite has been Shareaza since the first time I used it.
It basically has everything you could EVER wish for in a P2P program. It connects to the two best networks (i.e. Gnutella2 and eDonkey), it support BitTorrent downloads, it handles most every other extension for P2P downloading (e.g. Azuerus Links, Magnet Links, etc.) It's a little hard to configure for novices, but the help files available on the Website make it a breeze to set up everything. |

I don't use P2P programs anymore, my computer is always getting the same virus on it whenever I use one.
