Hi nice webtesting tools should the topic not be WEB site TESTING Tools and not WEbsite Development tools cause under development i would rate Dreamweaver the beast and Flash the second one.

No i dont think so because when you test your site your trying to find any mistakes and in fixing mistakes you are developing your site. Development is a broad term that is used loosely.

Some additions would be Notepad++ with syntax highlighting, various Firefox/Mozilla addons such as Web Developer and Firebug and also things like the W3C HTML Validator and CSS validator.

There are a lot of tools that can assist you in website development. For instance, Dreamweaver has its own site manager/FTP feature. As for free, open-source software, try the tools included with Linux (GDE or KDE apps).

Yes, those are good Web Testing tools as Guest pointed out, and just has he said, for website developement I use Macromedia Dreamweaver along with various other programs like Photoshop and Flash (for multimedia and interactivity). I've been using Dreamweaver since 2004 and I haven't ever found a better program. However, for site testing I don;t do much. All I really do is browse the site myself, and if I see a problem I simply fix it. However, I have an account with Google Webmaster, and that service points out many site errors (404's and such), and keeps me up to date with my popular search keywords, and their status.

Oh yes, Google Webmaster Tools are extremely helpful. So is MSN Webmaster Tools, but I don't think that Yahoo! Site Explorer is really that advanced.

I use Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 for my main development work and occasionally use Adobe Flash CS3 for developing multimedia applications. I haven't used any site testing tools yet, so I'll try the tools you have suggested.

I've been using HTML-Kit. I must have downloaded this some time back. I've done most of the tutorials and the basics of navigating the interface and menus. The tutorials also cover customizing the application for your needs. Apparently there are also downloadable add-on(s) which enhance the basic program with nice features which help in creating, testing, and checking your code. There's also an option that saves how you have your current interface setup, like a profile, which can be backed up and loading on another pc or laptop. Kool huh? Well I'm sure other programs offer these features but his program was free when I started using it like 3 years ago. I'm not sure about now but you can always search for an older version on Google.

It also has customizable syntax highlighting. Which is good if you learn something and forget it. tongue.gif

I didn't try any of those tools, even though I would be interested to try them and maybe I would like, but usually there is no time to do that sad.gif
