Surprised? Shouts of Vista being a failure at selling that you may have heard before were merely unfounded and FUD from those who want it to fail. Only fanboys rejoice in seeing their ""opponent's"" company fail. But I digress, back to topic.
Source: http://money.cnn.com/2007/05/15/news/compa...on=money_latest QUOTE SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) -- Microsoft has sold nearly 40 million Windows Vista licenses in the first 100 days that the latest version of the operating system has been available, Chairman Bill Gates said Tuesday. Gates said an accelerating consumer shift to digital lifestyles had helped make the operating system the fastest selling in history, and that premium editions have accounted for 78 percent of Vista sales. An interesting comment from fkr3 at digg reads; That's 400,000 licenses a day, which means It takes about 3 days for new Vista users to exceed Linux-as-a-desktop users. It takes about 4 days for new Vista users to exceed Mac's sales. It takes about 2 weeks for new Vista users to exceed Mac's users. I've still yet to experience a crash, since using RC1. |

Yeah, extremely surprised. I thought people would of known better. If it were up to me I'd go back to XP, but I bought this computer with Vista, so it's pointless to go buy an XP OS CD (and I had to buy this PC on emergency, so I had no other choice). It's probably because I don't have sufficient RAM, but the first couple of days Vista went running slow on me. Then it got to the point where it halfway crashed and would slow down for everything it did, until I wound up doing a recovery for the system and rebooted it as brand new. Now I don't seem to be having any problems with it, but I'll probably update to 1GB of RAM sometime soon to avoid that happening again.
Well, whatever makes people happy. I just hope they can have at least 1GB of memory. Two would probably be the best to run at 'normal' pace and not worry about slowing down. |

Probably not surprised since all their new versions seem to have a lot of rave and people actually buy into it. I'm sure there will be bugs that will need to be worked out as with prior versions, but those that want the latest, will chip in to buy it. Especially those that are developers or users that needs Vista for testing purposes.
Less than 1GB of memory? Man that's brave of you LOL. Even a GB might not be bearable for some XP users |

If you've ever looked at the system requirements...Vista...at a minimum....REQUIRES 1GB of RAM. The RAM will cause Vista to die...every time. |

I'm very excited about microsoft right now, there exploring many new feilds and making more updates more frequently! I used to like Mac like 4 years ago then when Xp came out i have always used Windows. Now windows vista came out! I upgraded my computer from pentium 3 processor to a vpro processor just for it! (over $700 just for intel processor). Then i upgraded my ram from 256mb to 1.4g! Im looking into getting the more out of my windows vista while i can. I predict that there will be another version of Windows in the next four years again though. Also i recomment people buying the liquid cooling systems for windows vista as it makes it much quiet and also cooler! You can buy it at your local computer dealer (frys & best buy atm). I encourage everyone to try out windows vista ultimate! If you have 1gig ram, you'll definetly love it! It has all the features you need lieka areo! But back to about the key, wow thats just amazing. Microsoft has also done a great job on cracking down on "not genuine" pc's. I know from searching on google that sometimes they might contact you if you have info on your computer or might contact your isp! Better watch out! (not verified)
Have a great day, Mike |

Not quite true. I'm running Windows Vista with 1 GB, but the OS RAM requirements is really 512MB. xboxrulz Well on my Vista Box, and on the Microsoft Website it says: "Minimum RAM: 1GB" I don't think Microsoft normally lies about recommendations. I suppose every system is different, but, Vista would run rather slow with only 512MB I would think. When I had only 1GB it ran poorly, once I upgraded to 3GB it ran beautifully! Minus the bugs. :] |

The minimum requirements is 512MB as shown here
![]() However, the recommended amount is 1GB. I only have 1 GB and it does lag. I'm going to try opting for 2 GB when I get my computer overhaul. xboxrulz |

But none-the-less, it lags badly. :] Thank you, though, for correcting me. |
