This just started occuring when I downloaded the new version of Opera. I think there must be setting for this but I cant find it. Anyway whenever I go to a web page Opera loads it from memory (not the internet). Now this speeds up your computer (or it should) but does not provide up-to-date information. The only way I could find to get around this is to press the refresh button but when you are using forums like I do pressing the refresh button on every page just to get it updated takes a lot of time (not to mention it is anoying). Does anyone know how to solve this problem? That would really help. Also I have been using view source a bit lattly. I dont know if that is affecting anything?
Thanks, Sparkx |

Start the Opera Browser, Select Tools, Preferences, Advanced, and there will be options for your Cache Size, How often it checks the Server, or if in fact it should cache pages.
Play with it to see what works for you. |

Opera has had a history of not always properly rendering websites. Just simply use another browser like Mozilla Firefox if it's unbearable. Else, stay with Opera. That's my opinion of course.

I hope you don't judge everything this fast because then I wouldn't like to know you. About your problem, type the following in the adressbar: opera:config in the search box, type: History Navigation Mode The settings are: QUOTE The [User Prefs]History Navigation Mode setting can be set to 1 (sets automatic mode), 2 (sets compatible mode), or 3 (sets fast mode). I've always had it set to 3 and I've never had any problems. This post has been edited by wutske: Sep 19 2007, 04:12 PM |

I never had problems with Opera cache too, in fact I even like it, that for example when you turn on Opera with a session of 20 tabs, you don't even want to say visit a forum of somekind, usually it loads from memory, in that way it is faster for me and if I want to check Todays topics, I just do and this is not the fault of Opera, the websites should really say how to cache the page to the browser and Opera just does it as the website says usually..
And about CSS of Opera, well I never had problems, in fact I had problems the over way around, it works on Opera and Konqueror, but I need to change something for a Gecko browser and if the css and html sources are valid and written well, it usually means that the site will work on most browsers, except IE.. I just think that you play with CSS using Firefox or something and when testing it on Opera you see a bit different result, usually about the difference of forms, input types, select and etc. imagine someone doing everything on Opera and "hating" to see how differently it looks on other browser.. Designers don't need to hate something, in fact from my experience, I noticed that creating layouts for Opera, Konqueror and Mozilla isn't quite a big headache, you just need to fix there and there and you need to know how different browsers treat a different tag or command, but when talking about IE, now usually that is a headache, you need to search for hacks, but hacks works differently on IE6 and IE7 and I won't even talk about how many websites will fail after IE8.. a lot of people will need to create or edit their hacks and stuff..
