The rapper who came to the limelight after he was discovered in the early nineties and millions grooved to his style has suddenly realised that its time to discover something new within himself, and that happens to be as important as his name. His original name is Calvin Broadus and it got changed after he was brought into the world of this unique genre of music, by Dr.Dre. and he has never looked back since then.

After spending close to two decades in the rap industry, he is more referred to as "Uncle Snoop' which obviously isn't much preferred by him. It all happened during his visit to Jamaica, where he had been to temple where a priest asked his name, he said he was Snoop Dog, but the priest somehow couldn't find that name relating well with the rapper, as he felt that he was the light, the lion and therefore the name. The rapper says that he could feel some realisation of his being within and proceeded to change his name.

The new name would also add an angle of being young to his personality and at the same time also signify that he is the lion of the rapping world.
