recently published in some media at the magnetic poles of the earth have been moving, specifically stated that the north pole is moving towards Siberia. if someone on the forum have any scientific report in this regard please I'd like to read, because so far what I have seen are pure speculation. :P

well the poles do tend to move but usually only by a short amount, don't forget there is a difference between the magnetic north pole and the north pole, the north pole is the point where the earth's imaginery axis is, since the earth is spinning thats the top point of the spinning. where as the magnetic poles are generated in the core and all the magnetic poles are is the north and south of the huge magnetic field generated by the earths core. the poles sometimes even reverse which creates electro magnetic stroms. the diaster films which say that the poles reversing will cause the end of the world are wrong since these storms only affect electronics. http://news.national...earth-core.html this website says that your right but its going 40 miles a year so at over 4000 miles to travel it will take the pole 100 years just to travel 4000 miles and it will most likely change movement again. I believe the pole sort of wobbles around the artic region.

when the poles swap though the magnetic field weakens and eventually collapses for them to move but the weakening takes a long time. also even though people say the poles swapping will cause the end of the world it has happened throughout prehistory and nothing happened i mean the poles reversed alot during the dinosaurs and the only end of the world for them was a mountain size asteroid coming down.

I believe this may be what you are looking for.

well don't forget the poles movement are not created by the surface they are defined deep down in the outer core, which creates our magnetic field. we don't know a greate deal about the outer or inner core since there is no real way for us to get down there without the pressure and shear temperture kill us and whatever we use to get down there. also most metal objects would be melted quickly down there since the outer core is primarily hot enough to complety melt any iron including steel since that is an alloy that has iron in it. if this happened you could most likely see the iron drifting towards the core that is if you lived long enough to see it do that. the strengths of the field created by the core determine which direction the poles wil move, some people think that the two poles are directly linked like the north and south pole (not the magnetic ones). but they are not closely linked because i don't believe that the 2 poles are directly opposite each other. will have to look more in depth into this.

We know a little bit more than that, even if it's not really possible to go down and see it if really happens that way.
There are electric currents spinning on really wide paths through the magma.
More precisely, there are two dynamos, mutually exciting each other, and in opposite phases. The resulting vector is not exactly zero, it's amplitude and direction depends from the differences between the two dinamos details. That's why it changes, because few differences make it point from one direction to the other one.
And the macro result is important, because the way the ionosphere reacts with the magnetic field is related to the way cosmic rays and other chared particles coming from anywhere will be deviated and point to some parts or earth or some other sites.
