There are a lot of good codecs in those packs usually, I know I've installed earlier versions and it's usually solved my problem, but if you don't actually need them it's a lot of codecs to install just for no reason and sometimes can add a ton of crap to your programs list if random ones try to make entries self promoting. Good if you need it otherwise it might be easier just to stick to VLC or something that has 99% of the codecs I've needed to run files before.

I used to use it, but after re-installation I didn't use it anymore, because usually using VLC media player, together with Quick Time Alternative, I seem to be able to play all the videos I get, so sometimes it's just to much codecs I don't need and sometimes, when you push on a avi or any video file, some software opens or etc. which I don't want to see when clicking on it :)

I tried installing one of these codec compilations before. Everything was pretty cool for awhile. It gave me more encoding and playback options. Then when I uninstalled it because I didn't want to encode in just any codec by accident; that is seldom hard to find. That's when I started experiencing all kinds of awkward behaviors in all my media players. Even with reinstall of my media players and other software I still could not get the basic stuff running - like my mp3, wma, and other songs. Looking on the Internet and making registry entries kinda helped.

It seem more worse than a virus and I really wasn't up for troubleshooting this kinda stuff, so I had to reinstall my OS. It was terrible and I lost a couple days. I'm not sure what the codec suite was, but just a lesson to the codec novices like me -- install at your own risk :)

You know, I prefer to download codecs manually, I don't know why I don't trust those packs, maybe in the past I downloaded one and came full of surprises, yeah, like spyware and stuff like that.

But I guess that this one doesn't do the same thing, but it isn't to hard either to download codecs for yourself. What I do use is GSpot. When a video doesn't play on my computer, I use that program to check which codecs are required and I download them, but usually you just need like 4 codecs and you're set, like the Xvid, ogg, AC3..

You could also consider using the portable version of the vlc player. This version has embedded everything needed. If it cannot play your video, at least it will not install anything, so no pollution for your system.

need to strip off audio track and just save the videoK-lite Mega Codec Pack 3.8.5

I have several dvd's,  with bad sound, too much noise and hum. These are not protected dvd's, from work, they  are demonstrations.

I would like to strip off the old audio track, and replace it with a new audio track (no noise, improved volume etc)

How can I save just the video and then reburn the dvd with the new improved audio track?
