This is the question that has been burning on everyones minds, which is bigger, the Japanese sony or the american Microsft.
One things for sure sony only release QUALITY PRODUCTS,and is most likely bigger because they do more than just consoles they do

laptops,cd/dvd-rw's,floppy drives,mini discs,hand held consoles,monitors,tv's,mobile's,cd players,cassette players and more..

while microsoft only do software, consoles and computer devices eg.mouses.

aight.
ps3 won't be out until 2006, so let's talk about ps2 instead.

xbox ownz ps2 when talking about power. but this is no more than normal as ps2 had been out for quite some time when ms released their xbox. ps3 will own xbox and xbox2 will own ps3.

but when we're talking about the looks, xbox truly sucks. ps2 is great.

games: a lot more games for ps2. yep yep

so i think ps2 is the best choice. unless you can wait another year and buy ps3

Xbox is winning? lol. In power yes, but when you compare how many units of each have been sold worldwide theres blatently no competition. Sony has the most contracts with game developers and always has, therefore bringing better games onto the console, and few of those are released onto the xbox about 8 months later. 'you put music on a ps3?,cann you connect to xbox live on ps3?', its a games console you retard, if you want a computer go ****in buy one, jeez.
As for the power of the xbox2 and ps3 compared, the ps3 obviously wins, as any self-respecting gamer would be able to tell. Microsoft have just created another pc in a different shape straying away from the games concept, somthing which sony have never done, they havn't forgot its a 'games console' and not a computer.

ok as for the contracts with game developers, of course sony is going to have the lead there since they have been in the console business longer. As for overal usability and power I think that the X360 is still ahead of the PS3, just like the XBox was more powerful then the PS2. From what I've seen on the cell processor, the heart of the PS3, the specs look good, but from what I've heard about its actual performace, it leave something to be desired. As for the X360, its uses a proven processor, the PowerPC chip from IBM, which has been proven to be a major powerhouse processor, unlike the Cell Processor which Sony specifically designed, from what I understand, to be used in the PS3.

As for the rest of the tech under the hood of both systems, they both are using "new" media drives, the X360 is using HD-DVD and the PS3 is using the Blu-Ray. Both are either new devices or old proven tech on steriods. The PS3 is using the new Blu-Ray which hasn't been put into mass production untill now and as such will have to have a period of time where the "kinks" are worked out of the manufacturing infrastructure and as such there will be a batch of bad ones that get out early on, probably but hopefully not. As for the X360 its using the HD-DVD drive which is basicly the same old DVD but with a new blue laser and possibly a new codec or 2.

Yes there have been problems with the new 360 but oh how we have short memories as a species, does no one remember that the original PS had overheating issues, the PS2 had problems with its hardware also. Now don't get me wrong I'm no fan of the way M$ does business but come on I'm no more a fan of how Sony does business either.

In the end we are just gonna have to wait and see both products in the stores, side by side, the real deal, and then decide. As for now though...I'm putting my money, and my mouth, behind the X360....Halo 3 Baby...lol

I would vote for XBOX/360 cause I think it's much better than PS3 hardware wise. Yet, I still like PS3 since it runs on Linux. As for which company is better, Sony is.

I heard from many gaming sites that Xbox 360 made software development for games a lot easier than PS3 which is as of now too complex for the software companies developing games for the PS3. But there has been a lot of speculation that PS3's hardware is a lot more powerful than the Xbox. In the end, once PS3 is out we can then judge which system can hold up to its name. Too early to judge due to many rumors that are going around right now. But my belief is that there is too many sony fans out there right now, and will eventually dominate Xbox in terms of sales. Me, I never owned a PS2, and bought a XBOX. But this coming year Ive been considered holding back on the 360 to get the PS3 because I have a feeling PS3 has a lot of potential to becoming the better system of the next generation...

I need to wait and see a while til I decide which is my best choice. Eventually, I will probably end up playing each system at a friends house, because they will get them before me. I won't be able to afford the high price, and I'm also not going to get either one until the kinks are worked out. But after I've tested both I will chose, and not until. But most likely, in the end, I will own both a 360 and a PS3, as now I have and XBox and a PS2. What can I say, I'm a sucker for the console games.

To balance things out, as I have to do this when my friends get in a rant over these consoles, there are good and bad things. The Xbox 360 has a better online function and way more extras, but the PS3 has TWICE more power and is made by a more reliable company. This balances the two consoles!

I would go for the 360 because it seems cooler (even though there are overheating problems!) and there are many more extras, plus Halo 2 is on it !

If Sony can put out a solid PS3 system - no major bugs or problems - right from the start, then they'll have a big advantage over the 360.

Then again: if Microsoft doesn't concentrate on getting a better selection of games, they're going to have problems anyway once PS3 drops. That was what I really liked about the PS2: you had so, so many titles available, and they were good about rushing to make the most popular games cheaper.
