I've never heard about a keyboard that shuts the pc by pressing the CAPS LOCK key. Well the keyboard isn't one of a specific brand but what he really does is shuting down the system. Severall days ago a person asked my for help. Its seems that he cant do anything with the pc, and he automaticlly shutdown the PC. Well after some hours trying to solve the problem i realized that each time he press the CAPS LOCK key the windows starts at once shutting down. I check for keyboard settings but the keyboard doesn't has own software its just a simple and lame keyboard. I even start question if wasn't a lame virus inside the keyboard, or just is a short-circuit. Well the fact is that i try it on 4 diffrent pc and all did the same. LOL if this is an isolate case i might try to sell it on ebay. LOLOLOL
anyone had the same/simillar problem ? Sorry i've rong with the key . Wasn't CRTL buT CAPS LOCK . Sorry This post has been edited by marretas: May 2 2006, 01:26 PM |

Hehe ... that's a very wierd problem. You mean to say you've tried the keyboard on 4 different systems and all of them shut down whenever you press the Caps Lock key? Then, I guess you're better off trying to sell it on ebay. If it were happening only on that system, then I would have said it was probably a virus, but since it's the same on 4 different PCs, it's probably a short circuit or something. Pressing Caps Lock probably sends a shutdown message to the processor.
Notice from vizskywalker:

Yeah - what abhiram said about a short circuit.
I would whack the keyboard a few times on the edge of the desk - not too hard, mind you - before going to eBay with it, just to see if I could fix the problem. Then again, I wonder how much money one could get for listing a keyboard that shuts down the computer when you hit the Caps Lock key? I bet a whole group of pranksters would all see that listing and start a bidding war just so they'd have something new and wholly entertaining to do in the office *grins* |
