Author: OpaQue Total-Replies: 2 STAYING ACTIVE RULE! Hi members, The main condition on the grounds of which we give hosting is Staying Active. Most of the users ask, what we mean by it ? The answer is a bit difficult. We usually check if a member is active on a WEEKLY basis. If we see that the member is not active, we check the quality of his posts. The quality of the post matter a lot and better the quality, the more are your chances that you will not be deleted. What if I cannot be active for 2-3 weeks or may be months? OPTIONS, IF YOU CANNOT STAY ACTIVE FOR SOME REASON. Most of our competitors delete the user's accounts who do not stay active, but we give our member's yet another option. If you think that you won't be able to be active or contribute at our forums then you may put our advertising code on your site. Your account will not be deleted if we see our advertising code on your site. The advertising code can be found at http://www.trap17.com/adcodes.html You must put the code on every page or atleast on pages which have a high traffic. Adcode on the index or homepage is a must. TWO: You may switch to paid hosting. We have the most cheapest hosting options on the internet. For more prices and details, visit www.computing-web-hosting.com THREE: Ask someone else to use your userid and stay active at the forums. :-) !!!! NOTE !!!! The above points are applicable, ONLY if you CANNOT stay active at the forums. They are only to help you out. We do not like deleting members accounts like the other hosts do, and hence we are providing these alternatives. Any suggestions or comments are most welcome.

Author: saxsux Total-Replies: 4 I've recently put ads on my site, as Oaque says you can in the Staying Active Rule (http://www.astahost.com/staying-active-rule-t1180.html). My hosting credits have run out last night, and my account has been suspended, even though I put ads on to compensate for the fact that I haven't been able to post on the forums too much recently. Is there anyway to resolve this without having to start posting everywhere?

Author: zenia Total-Replies: 2 the rules state: QUOTEStay active (suspension): Once a user has been granted a hosting account (s)he must stay active in these forums for as long as (s)he wishes to keep that account. This hosting company is community based and we do not want users to post solely for the sake of hosting. Staying active means you must contribute to the forum at least once every two weeks, and visit it at least once every week. Failure to doing so will result in your account being suspended or removed.the promotional text of the decade plan states like this: QUOTEAs the name says, its a $10 for 10 year plan. Pay $10 once and forget hosting for 10 years.so it seems that when the decade plan is bought the company suggests that there need to be no worries about hosting for the next 10 years. but the rules state a requirement to post about once at 14 days and to visit the forum like every 7 days. having no worries about the website hosting and the job to visit and to post like every 1 to 2 weeks are different things. they look to be contradictionary. it seems the rules should better be changed to let the buyer of the decade plan feel more safe about his purchase.

Author: roylazarovich Total-Replies: 2 Hello. Can you please clarify something for me? The rules state: Staying active means you must contribute to the forum at least once every two weeks, and visit it at least once every week. Failure to doing so will result in your account being suspended or removed. Taken from: http://www.astahost.com/index.php?act=boardrules Is that how it works or would I get one hosting credit deducted every day? like the system they have at trap17 The reason I ask is that I find different information in different places and I just want to be sure which is the right one so that I can follow the rules once I get hosted. Thanks.

Author: saxsux Total-Replies: 1 I saw that OpaQue siad that we could put adverts in our sites if we couldn't (temporarily) stay active in the forums. http://www.astahost.com/staying-active-rule-t1180.html Will the system automatically detect that my site has adverts and not suspend my account when my credits run out, or will I have to explain to one of the admins that I've got ads, and ask to have my site temporarily unsuspended, etc? Will my hosting credits "freeze" where they are if I put ads on my site instead of posting in the forums? Does the rule regarding adverts even apply any more? Thanks in advance, saxsux

Author: moonwitch Total-Replies: 1 Astahost does not register domain, you can howver get hosting here. THis would require you to post actively on this forum. I suggest you read the TOS, intro and Board rules. The requirements for posting are simple, have good non copied content, stay on legal topic (eg. not about warez), and use decent English. I know this sound like a hunch chunk, but it's all to make the forum experience pleasant for all of us.

Author: NilsC Total-Replies: 1 You can have hosting when you read the FAQ and forum rules. Then you have to start posting quality posts and stay active in the forum. Since you didn't take the time to read the rules or look at any of the instructions posted when you join. You got a warning and need to put a lot effort into your posts. This forum is for dedicated members that will share and contribute to the community. This topic is closed, and read the board FAQ and the TOS before you start posting. You will stay out of trouble that way. Nils

Author: Cassandra Total-Replies: 2 PPC: Google Adsense: One of the two I am using at the moment. They pay, they look like they are staying solvent, they have never pulled any funny business with me, and they answer emails with some attempt at intelligence. Adhearus: I have stopped using them since Google liberalized their rules. Their ads were very badly targeted, and I never got any clicks. However, that was a long time ago. PayPerSale: LinkShare: I once had a merchant rob me rather blatantly. LinkShare pretty much helped them, and refused to answer ANY emails on the subject, even the first. LinkShare generally refuses to respond at all to site owners. However, I have another LinkShare merchant with excellent communication between the merchant and the publishers, which helps a lot. LinkShare has also had a lot of downtime lately. The bottom line: LinkShare is pretty bad, but if you have a good merchant, things can go pretty well. CJ: I used this before they set new limits to discourage sites with very little activity. I was perfectly satisfied. Shareasale: I used them when they first started, I think. The owner made it clear that he considered affiliates garbage; only merchants were worthy of replies or common civility. Look at the oldest posts on his abestweb support forum itself, and you'll see what I mean. They also had a lot of technical problems. Judging by what I see on the abestweb forums, they have improved a lot, but I would still avoid them like the plague. The leopard doesn't change his spots.

Author: Rudy Total-Replies: 1 email: rudy@cell-fones.com site name: caribcirc user name: redcrossyouths I am an active member of the Red Cross and have developed a site for the youth members of the Caribbean region. The site is to promote group activity amongst the youth braches of regional societies to share information and ideas. Because this is a voluntary effort and there is no money involved I have to seek free hosting for the site. You are providing a great service and I will do what ever it takes to stay active to keep this site alive, and abide by the rules of your service. Thank you in advance for providing the opportunity to host the site here. Rudy

Author: abhiram Total-Replies: 5 QUOTEI noticed that as of this post that you have 5 posts, so you will only ned 5 more to qualify for postingJust to clarify it a bit, she needs 10 credits, not posts. You can get 10 credits with even 2-3 posts depending on the size of the posts. NAchi: Welcome to Astahost. Hope you enjoy your time here as much as I do. Houdini has mentioned some important guidelines. I would just like to add that ... please make long and meaningful posts. Do not post one-liners or post crazy stuff like 'LOL' and so on. Also make sure that you don't copy-paste stuff you find from other websites. Spammers are not taken kindly to on this forum. Once again, I hope you have an enjoyable stay. Cheers
