My Astahost Website seems to be unavailable currently.

The Time is : 4:15 PM IST (GMT+5:30hrs)

The browser gives a "Server Timeout Error".

Is this a temporary server downtime, or do I have to re-configure my site or something?

I also have enough credits to go on with - 17 at this time...

My site is : www.omkarshub.astahost.com

Ever since yesterday, I wasn't able to access my site http://maxotek.net, so I tried others' sites like http://www.handyphp.com, none of which opened. I've tried PINGing the sites and have received no response as yet. I've heard that there were some changes to the IP addresses for the shared IPs. Just a while ago, I heard from a friend of mine that he was able to access the sites. Another one reported of a Gateway Timeout error.

Do I need to make some changes in the CPanel or will this be solved automatically?

It looks like some how the FrontPage files became corrupt. I manually deleted the FrontPage extensions off the server via FTP and then uninstalled/installed the extensions via CPanel. It looks like everything is working now but I did loose all the hit counters. I also had some strange errors while reinstalling the scripts.

CODE

..Error #20003 Message: Cannot create folder "_vti_cnf".
(OS Error #13 Message: Permission denied)
Error #20003 Message: Cannot create folder "_vti_cnf".

(OS Error #13 Message: Permission denied)
Error #20003 Message: Cannot create folder "_vti_cnf".
(OS Error #13 Message: Permission denied)

I wish the error messages were a bit more descript. Bottom line, if you are having problems like the ones I described, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the FrontPage extensions from CPanel / Site Management Tools / Frontpage Extensions.

No, it's all working fine for me, at the moment. When in doubt whether the server is down, you might want to check out this link: http://www.xisto.com/helpdesk/index.php?cmd=status. It gives you information on the main services (HTTP, MySQL, POP3 etc.). Be noted that all Astahost members are on the gamma server.

Hi again.
I'm having another problem.

Well... If you read my other topic, the site isn't working with www.
Well, now the site won't work at all, subdomains, ftp, everything.
I get the old parking page that came with the domain. I was wondering if it is a problem with the company I registered the domain with. I know that the name servers take time but its been about 5 days since I changed them to the astahost ones. Yesterday it was working (except for subdomains) but today... nothing works.
Can anyone see if it works? the site is www.habbofront.com and a subdomain is radio.habbofront.com
Also, any help why it doesnt work? is it astahost or optinom (optinom is where the domain is registered)?

I tried populis.com
And I am very angry :P
The offer your own domain for free.
They verify that your domain is free.
You reserve the domain.
Now you have your own page on firstname.yourdname.com
Very nice, you have some megs, and you have ftp for utploading your html files.
Unfortunately, they server ftp.populis.com is never available : timeout waiting for connection at any moment of the day !
So, your domain name is reserved, you cannot buy it any more, but your site is unreachable because you cannot upload your index.html file !
So, what I recommend : if you want a domain name, don't even click on populis.com homepage !

FileZilla is a powerful FTP-client for Windows NT4, 2000 and XP. It has been designed for ease of use and with support for as many features as possible, while still being fast and reliable. (See FileZilla history for more information)

This guide will help you to configure and use FileZilla.

The main features of FileZilla are:

*

Ability to resume Uploads/Downloads (if the server supports it)
*

Custom Commands
*

Site Manager with folders
*

Keep Alive system
*

Timeout detection
*

Firewall support
*

SOCKS4/5 and HTTP1.1 Proxy support
*

SSL secured connections
*

SFTP support
*

Upload/Download Queue
*

Drag&Drop
*

Multi-language support
*

GSS authentication and encryption using Kerberos

Quick Operating Guide:

This guide gives you a short overview on how to use FileZilla. By default you don't have to configure FileZilla, so you can start directly working with the program.

1. Connecting to an FTP server

To connect to an FTP server, enter the address of the server into the host field of the Quickconnect bar. If it is a special server type like an SFTP server, add the protocol in front of the address. In case of an SFTP server, start the address with 'sftp://'. Enter the port of the server into the port field if it is not the default port (21 for FTP, 22 for SFTP). If a username / password is required, enter it in the corresponding fields. Click on Quickconnect or press Enter to connect to the server.

quickconnectbar.png

2. Navigating on the server

After a successful connection attempt, a list of files and folders appears on the right side of the main window. The current folder is listed in the edit field on the top. You can change the current folder by double-clicking a folder or by entering the folder name into the edit field and pressing enter. You may also right-click the file and folder list and select Open from the context menu to change the current folder. You will notice a folder called ".." displayed in all directories. This folder allows you to go up to the parent directory of the current folder.

3. Navigating on your machine

Navigating on your machine works almost like navigating on the server. There's only one addition: The folders on your machine are arranged in a tree for faster navigation. A tree is also availabe for the remote side, but it is hidden by default. The remote tree can be shown anytime by clicking on the remote tree icon in the toolbar toolbar_remotetreeview.png.
To change the current folder either on your machine or on the server, just select a tree item in the appropriate tree.

4. Transferring files

You can upload or download a file by double-clicking on it. It will be added to the transfer queue and the transfer starts automatically. To transfer folders and/or multiple files, select them and right-click the selection. Then you can click on Upload/Download in the popup menu.

You can also drag the files from one side and drop them on the other side. To add files to the queue so that they will be transferred later, select them and click Add to Queue from the popup menu. You may also drag the files directly into the queue. Click on the toolbar_transfer.pngbutton on the toolbar to start the transfer.

Yes, you can, you could use someone else host to your database and remotely access it, but is much better that both of them are located at the same place.

Also it is possibly that you could get some connections errors and timeouts if you access in this way your database.

Take a look to this topics for some related information:

If you can wait visit db4free.net - The databases for free project website.

BTW, why don't you change to Astahost????

Best regards,

Well yesterday night I casually tried to visit astahost forums to see what's happening. To my surprise I got a connection timeout error. Waited for 5 minutes and still no improvement. A thought came to my mind -> If this is the case with the webhosting provider homepage then what's is the situation of my website? Immediately I typed my site address and hit enter. I'm really shocked to see that everything is fine. I really appreciate all the staff for not letting us go down even though you were down. This incident has developed a great faith in me towards Xisto. I'll never ever worry about my site uptime..... Astahost you are awesome :o

Tired of your school blocking every new proxy site you find? Here's an answer. Check out http://www.proxybuilder.com. After you fill in the information you want for your proxy site, it will give you the download link for your files. Then all you have to do is upload the files you download to your web host and you've got your own proxy website. If you find a free hosting site, you can make as many of these as you want!

NOTE***If your site gets blocked, just make another account with the free hosting service. BUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU KEEP ALL YOUR ACCOUNTS! DELETE YOUR CURRENT ACCOUNT BEFORE CREATING A NEW ONE TO KEEP THE HOST'S SERVER CLEAN!

GOOD LUCK!

Well I guess some of the errors could be from my browser or the gamma server but I have had some strange things happen.
Anyway as some of you may know, I am working on a small site were it is possible to save data in a MySQL database. Anyway while using Opera web browser I get a sever connection lost error while I am inserting or updating some of my values (other browsers (IE explorer est.) take a long time to re-connect but they eventually load the page). Now this was driving me crazy because it would work on about half the values and not on the other. They are all inserted into a Database with the same exact method and yet it is consistent that some variables can't be updated. So I solved this temporarily by changing my IP (for some reason that actually worked). Then I got an even odder error.

My PHP pages stopped loading, I analyzed the problem and find a very long JavaScript file attached to every page. Here is a small section:

CODE

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">

onloadevent_E850A1B8F15A48e9BD405A67D067013E = window.onload;
window.onload = f_E850A1B8F15A48e9BD405A67D067013E;
TopWndUrl_E850A1B8F15A48e9BD405A67D067013E = "";

[... then a very long js file ...]

} //if(str[i] == '/')

} //for(i = 0; i < str.length; ++i)
return str2;
} //function GetDomain_24578457887(str)
</script>

I may be wrong but I don't remember programming anything even close to this. Has anyone had a similar error? If so how did you fix it? Could it be a server update? I just wanted to bring this to the Admins attention. I am on the gamma server (so you could look at recent changes).

Thanks,
Sparkx

Yeah Ws_FTP Pro is the best!!!!!!!!!!!

You can do everything in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, always search for simplicity.. if your trying to upload or download something small.. use your browser ftp... you can surf the site as a windows folder (sorry linux os's, i don't know how is it for u)...

But, if u got the money, WS_FTP!!!!!!!!!!!
