Hey everyone Im having a bit of trouble using Nero for burning CD's. Everytime I start the burning process, it will get say about 45% done and then it will stop dead. Usually you can hear the actual drive itself whilst the CD is burning, then it will just stop and go quiet. Its really annoying because I am wasting countless CD's on it. Does anyone have any suggestions or is it my hardware?
Thanks :P

Please help fix this Nero Problem.

.BIN & .CUE simple tutorial.

So you have two files, one with a .bin extension and one with a .cue extension.
"What do I do with these?" you ask. There are a number of options.

BURN TO CD

You will need either NERO, CDRWIN or FIREBURNER to burn the file.

To burn with NERO:
Start NERO, choose FILE, choose BURN IMAGE, locate the .cue file you have and double click it. A dialog box will come up, for anything other than music make sure you choose DISC-AT-ONCE (DAO). You can also turn off the simulation burn if you so choose.
Then burn away.

To burn with CDRWin:
Start CDRWin, choose the button on the top left, choose LOAD CUESHEET, press START RECORDING.

To burn with Fireburner:
Start Fireburner, click on the button on the bottom left corner "VISUAL CUE BURNER/BINCHUNKER",
press the right mouse button and choose LOAD TRACKS FROM .CUE and choose the correct .CUE file,
press the right mouse button again and chooseselect "Burn/Test Burn", choose DISK AT ONCE (DAO),
disable TEST BURN and MULTISESSION, press OK.

.CUE ERRORS
The most common error you will get with a .cue file is when it points to an incorrect path.
This is easily fixed. Find the .bin file, copy the exact title including the .bin extension. Now find
the .cue file, open the .cue file using notepad. It should look similar to this:

FILE "name of file.bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 MODE2/2352
INDEX 00 00:04:00
INDEX 01 00:06:00

Delete everything in the quotes, in this case we would
delete name of file.bin. Now place the title you copied
in between the quotes. Save the changes and close out.
Thats it, your .cue file should work now.

OTHER WAYS TO USE .BIN & .CUE FILES

VCDGear:
This program will allow you to extract MPEG streams from CD images, convert VCD files to MPEG,
correct MPEG errors, and more.

Daemon Tools:
This program creates a virtual drive on your PC which will allow you to "mount" the .cue file and use
whatever is in the .bin file without having to burn it to a cd.

ISOBuster:
This program will allow you to "bust" open the .bin file and extract the files within the .bin.

I gave a try to InfraRecorder, the portable version you can get here http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/inf...corder_portable seemed to be very interesting : you have the software on your USB stick, so you can burn anywhere, even if your friend's PC does not have a decent burning software installed.
InfraRecorder perfectly burned my data on a CD, I was able to read it from another computer without problem.
However, coming back to my own computer I had a bad surprise : Vista was unable to read any media, CD nor DVD : it asked me to format the blank DVD ! I had data, I was able to read them on other computers, but not any more on mine !
I fixed the thing when I used Nero to burn another CD, Nero fixed the wrong things and my device was back to work and was able to read my DVD's again.
So, very useful to have your own burning software, but remember that it can destroy your friend's burner !

QUOTE

they are realy great for fixing your computer or testing a new linux distro

Also, as they are on CD's, they cannot be modified. so, once they worked, they will always work. This a good way to clarify whether a software change occurred (like a Windows update) or a virus or malaware action.

DVDShrink, it also 'fixes' the encryption, although it takes a bit a time for it to process stuff.

I used msconfig to delete a couple non-essential programs from the startup. I've done this many times before and never had problems with it. However, the other day I tried it and when I rebooted my computer, almost nothing worked. Flash drives wouldn't recognize, the sound card in device manager was supposedly working properly, but if i tried to play anything it would tell me there was no sound card installed. The system slowed to a crawl, my virus scan, firewall, and pgp wouldn't start. I repaired the installation off of the original windows cd, and it fixed the sound problem, but then my network wouldn't show up, and device manager was a total blank. I happened to go into services.msc and there I found that every single thing was disabled. How on earth does something like that happen, and how can i prevent it from happening. It cost me hours of work to try and fix, and if i would have gotten any more frustrated, i probably would have resorted to a clean install.

Windows Media Player Plays All Video In Full Screen
Windows Media Player Plays All Video In Full Screen

I have a possible solution for abartar. I had the same problem. I had to go into: Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced. I have a tab in there called "GEForce 6800" for nView dual monitor settings. Under a setting for "Full Screen Video," I clicked to disable full screen device, and it fixed the problem...Finally.

Unless you are some kind of developer or just want to jump the boat and test out Vista now, definitely wait a while longer until they release some kind of service pack for it. The programmers at Microsoft have put in a lot of time for Windows Vista and I'm sure that a lot of bugs are fixed, but as with all their other operating systems, more are to be found.

One major issue from what I read is drivers. Some of the older devices don't have a compatible driver made for Vista yet (or ever). So this will also require the user to get newer parts for their computer that supports the Vista operating system.

Simply put, DVD-R, DVD+R, and the like are different DVD formats. Think of it as the PAL, Secam, and NTSC of DVDs :). If that doesn't ring any bells, either, then never mind. It's no big deal anyway.

As to your problem, unfortunately I don't think I can be of much help, since I still don't have enough information. So my best advice to you is, wait a couple of days, maybe someone in here knows what to do and will tell you about a solution. If nobody answers, then maybe you should just get your DVD to a repair shop. I don't think it'd cost too much, since I don't believe it's a big problem in the first place, and secondly because DVDs have become so cheap these days, so how expensive could fixing one get??!!

Good luck, man. :)

Yea, actually I meant the two things, "I opened the CPU (big rectangle box)" and I checked / diagnosed "CPU - Processor"

Thanks for your advice man, I better take it to a computer shop, because I am tired of fixing it. Thanks to all the guys who helped too.

One of my laptop, which is 500 mhz (Pentium 2) has Windows XP on it, and it is working perfectly. The other, which is a computer, has 800 mhz, with Windows XP, the only problem is that it's too slow, even though the memory is 256 mb. I am in serious difficulty for my computers.

Thanks to everyone. Suggestions always welcome!

Windows 7 just started to behave like Vista.DVD-Rom Doesn't Read DVDs

In my last post, I said that the DVD-RW worked alright on Windows 7; but now scratch that! It just started to behave like Vista! So, the only winner around is XP! I don't really know what's wrong with those two OSes, but it could be bad drivers provided by Microsoft and so far, haven't found a patch or anything that fixes the problem. So if anybody finds something, it'll be greatly appreciated to let us know.

Here's how I make some space on my hard drive:

Im am using a registered version of TuneUp Utilities 2004 from http://www.tune-up.com - works good on getting rid of junks and temporary files, also fixes and optimizes your system.

Using the basic disk cleanup utility on the Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools

Using the defrag data utility on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools(only when the drive needs defragging)

I also clean up some folders that contains some unimportant files, some are as follows:

x:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Temp
x:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\<application that uses temporary file storage> - kinda useful(since some applications like Adobe Photoshop uses a lot of temporary memory[its scratch disk])

x=Disk Drive Letter

I always clear out my internet cache, cookies including all offline files that I get from the net. Internet Explorer Tabs -> Tools -> Internet Options... -> General Tab -> Delete Cookies/Delete Files(including offline files)

Yeah, I think that the reason being is that IE has many potential weaknesses that are fixed in SP2. But since many people do not want to install SP2, they are switching to an alternative browser.
