Author: nakulgupta Total-Replies: 2 Hey!! Some time last year before the games release i downloaded a couple of the games trailers... But when i played the game quite a few parts were missing...is it related to the source code theft in anyway?? Left me sorely disappointed

Author: smyke Total-Replies: 28 it depends of what type of person you are... solitaire can prove to be addictive for some persons... but for me... there are 2 game series that became very very addictive : Fifa and Total War.. Fifa was the first one... i played for hours and i couldn't get enough of it... and then came Total War : Shogun... i played that game for days in a row, cutting classes and tennis practices... i didn't want to turn off the computer... i wanted to see my ninja perform some assasinate, my troops conquering another province.. then i cooled down after i finished it for the second time with all the factions.. then started again with Medieval : Total War... a better game than the first... i finished that one with the Bizantines, The Spaniards, the Egiptians and with the Holy Roman Emperor... and then i cooled down again... and then i started over with Rome Total War, the best game in the series... they are just incredible games....

Author: cyborgxxi Total-Replies: 14 Alright alright. Let's cut the talk about "games that have good endings and I recommend them to you". No, no. 1. Star Wars: Republic Commando Wow. I have to say this is the worst Star Wars game ever! The graphics are a little cheesy to me, well, because I ran all the settings on low. I wonder what the problem is with my graphics card? Anyway, the ending is about one of your comrades dying... or something like that. He gets ambushed and you and your other two commandos run to help him but get denied by the base commander. Why? Well, this is the ending - he's just another clone. So you get to fly off on your LAAT transport ship, talking to Yoda, and the game ends with stupid, cheesy, "Latin-ish opera-ish" music. Not just the ending sucks, the game is very unrealistic as well. I have to leave for school right now so I will have to post later. By the way, do not buy Star Wars: Republic Commando. It's a waste of time and money!!

Author: wreslur Total-Replies: 18 i read in an article a studio is creatine an engine that can cut game developing time by about 3/4's its in an official Xbox Magazine but its a Microsoft thing so its not only for the Xbox. I think since Valve switched from the half life engine to source engine they will try a new one again for the third. And if they pick up on the Dev tool we should expect one in 2007. But if they go from scratch again like they did with half life 2 ittl be 2010 at the least

Author: BitShift Total-Replies: 15 It is a truly awesome game. However if you don't have the graphics card to carry the weight then it can turn into crap really fast. It gets extremely agitating trying to play the game and you are lagging because your video card can't render textures fast enough. Also, frame rate ( fps ) is extremely vital if you want to do good. And make sure you have some kind of fast connection, not dial-up because it just won't cut it. If you want a less graphic demanding game but want the awesome game play get Counter-Strike:ConditionZero It has better graphics then CS1.6 but the same great gameplay that made the game so popular in the first place. I recommend Geforce 6 series or better, and whatever the ATI equivilant is or better otherwise CS:Source will lag even at low video settings. Also if your getting a new motherboard get a motherboard with PCI-Express, its better and faster then agp Processor speed, well I recommend like a 2.0 ghz or faster Pentium 4/Celeron. If you have AMD then I recommend any AMD64 processor. And if you don't know which to get, Intel or AMD, go with AMD At least 1 gig of ram

Author: zorlen Total-Replies: 13 I was getting bored with my old sig so I made a new one. This time around it's not a box, it's a little smaller and best of all, it's animated! oooooohhhhh.... Animation...... *drools* Anyways, I'm posting this to get a feel on what you guys think of it. Also, I know that the very end of the cycle is cut off a little, I'm just too lazy to make the name fade out this very second. This is also a homage to Half Life 2 and it's mods that I play, such as CSS and Plan of Attack. So, here's the banner: ![]() hmmm, it seems that with all the flash banners on the page the animation slows slightly, at least near the beginning. to see it without the lag, [click here]

Author: Dmaster14 Total-Replies: 39 The only reason why you Halo 1 is almost as good is because it has better control and cool multiplayer. Other then that, Halo 2 is better because it has more guns, character designs, vehicles, and in my opinion, better Story mode. Some people say it has too many cut scenes; I agree but it also has fun gameplay. You can still skip over the cut scenes.

Author: Herbert Total-Replies: 3 I heard they came out with a new unofficial patch for Bloodlines, I'm going to probably install it again just to see what they've done with it. I'd say that game is a pure A+, but there were a couple things that bothered me that keep me from replaying it again: Firstly, the endings, though they were alternate, weren't really all that different, and thus kind of takes any replay value out of the game when you find that you end up with only a slightly different scene. Secondly, and this is a gameplay issue, is the system load this game uses. I had to go out and buy two sticks of 512 ddr ram (had 392megs of sd-ram before, just didn't cut it) and I upgraded to an ATI x800 Pro, and it still lagged for me when I first entered an area. And the frequency of the loadings, ugh, pain in the neck... so to speak If the game didn't need to load as much, I'd enjoy it more.

Author: ebbinger_413 Total-Replies: 20 oh...thanks...right after i read your reply the first words that came from my mouth were "YES!" finally i actually came up with a design that is pretty good...i will do a tut on it...but basicly i found this cool brush that i thought went well with the rugged theme of the sig and used that doing a few strokes then doing a new layer that was black behind that to fill the white spots then i did a difference clouds effect and it turned out a lot better than what i thought...it took a lot of messing around to get the background though that is where i spent most of my time. i used 2 other pictures to get the hl2 logo and gordon in the sig....i had to cut them out and that took some patience because my magic wand tool wasnt working properly last night. but i made sure that when i put the logo on to carry the background effect within the logo and the shadow of the font...if you look you can see the tracks in it

Author: chronogamer28 Total-Replies: 61 NVIDIA's system for the cards is really confusing to me. Hence, Nvidia GeForce 4 7800X or somethin like that. ATi is clean cut, hence ATi Radeon 9600 Pro. And I like ATi, more reliable than Nvidia. My neighbor has a Nvidia, blew out in two weeks after installation.

Author: Herbert Total-Replies: 17 *Minor gameplay spoilers* Well I've just completed Half Life 2. I can see why some people were disappointed in the ending, but overall, the gaming experience was more than enough to make up for that. I truly felt like I made a difference, as opposed to Red Faction 2, where you fight in a similar resistance that left me feeling ill after playing, rather than anything good like HL2. Half Life two made me feel like a character in many movies... To start off, you feel like you're Winston from George Orwell's 1984 (which was not only a book, but they made a movie of that as well Then you feel like you're in a horror movie when you have to pass through an "abandoned" city filled with people possessed by headcrabs, and all sorts of terrors. I must say, that level alone rivals the Cradle level in Thief 3 for the horrific atmosphere. For example, a guy is found cut in half by a saw blade, with his upper torso laying on the top of the blade stuck in the wall like a shelf.... Wow. Plus the whole "OOH SH*T" factor when you realize you've started a ruckus and all hell starts breaking loose. The whole horror movie feeling goes from, say, Resident Evil, to more like the movie 28 Days Later (Edit: haha, forgetting the "Later" part of that movie title makes it a drama starring Sandra Bullock As you go along the coast-line, you pass derelict cars, that have long since rotted out... the overall sense of isolation and dread really sets in... Until you go up to a seemingly empty house and these metallic balls shooting electricity blow up through the floor and start chasing you as you try to escape Later you find yourself smack dab in the middle of The War of the Worlds trying to evade and sneak past those giant tripods... And at a point, a defense system is shooting lasers at you and your squad members, evaporating them into dust. The last level just plain old kicks ass in that you get an awesome gun, which might have been more fun getting earlier, but better for the last level than never. You are swarmed by a seemingly infinite (but not overwhelming) amount of guards, but with your new and upgraded gravity gun, you can pick up the leader and throw him at the rest and watch them fall like a bunch of bowling pins The ending, though slightly disappointing, didn't leave me feeling unsatisfied like Red Faction 2 did. I went through the whole game (HL2) and at the end felt like I made a difference that changed the world. Other games give you a straight forward epilogue, telling you what your character did afterwards like "and so-and-so became president of the galaxy", which is OK if done right, but in my short time with the Half Life series, the experiences of Gordon Freeman have been my own. Everything I know about what's going on is just as much as the main character... there are no cut scenes, everything that happens does so in real time in front of my eyes. As for the ending, well it only motivated me to want to go out and buy the upcoming expansions Half Life 2: Episode 1, and Half Life 2: Episode 2 to find out what happens to the main characters next. Also I'd like to acknowledge Valve's technology in terms of realistic characters. You really do feel like you can relate to the NPCs, and you feel bad when you lose a team member, even if another one will come along eventually. I remember at one part of the game where I was ambushed by an air raid, and the girl next to me was shot... I actually stopped, knelt down beside her... and proceeded to go ballistic and kill all of those murdering bastards. Lots of unanswered plot questions I had to look up on wikipedia and whatnot, but overall a great game. Heck I wouldn't even pirate it if I could, I encourage you all to go out and support these people for making such a great game.

Author: issdiscovery04 Total-Replies: 34 Unless people have way too much money to burn, there really isn't a point to getting an 8 series card from Nvidia. But for those people who want to spend around 400 on a graphics card, the 8800 GTS cards are pretty nice. Personally, I like Nvidia better than ATI. ATI hasn't exactly had the best deals on graphical power when you consider the price. No matter what graphics card people get, they almost always forget to get better cpus, ram, and hdds. Most people just settle with normal IDE. If anyone wants faster responses from games, a crappy IDE connection isn't going to cut it, try going for SATA or SCSI (thats what i have).

Author: MajesticTreeFrog Total-Replies: 33 AMD has faster outright performance a good deal of the time, provided you are doing just one thing. The difference however, is usually rather small. On the other hand, Intel's hyperthreading tech allows running multiple programs and multitasking to work significantly better than AMD. Things get more complicated when you look at the 64 bit arena. AMD64 is the clear winner in this arena, with the intel Itanium quickly headed for the trashcan. However, Intel recently, and quietly, added support for the AMD x86-64 command set to its lastest set of chips, so they will run the same stuff the AMD chips will. So, now the question is, for the next set of chips, who will be better? AMD has more experience with their command set, but Intel's hyperthreading and long pipeline may somehow give them a large boost in performance(or a terrible cut, I don't know which). Anyway, after all that, the question of which is better depends on what you are doing. For gaming, AMD is the way to go. For multitasking and similar, go Intel.
