In an earlier post I had described how Google maintains the human touch while dealing with its employees, even after they leave for their heavenly abode. But here's something that shows up to be quite the other way round. Google has done with the acquisition of Motorola Mobility and aims to register some more innovations in the history of technology, therefore they have decided to emphasize on the "reorganizing" and restructuring of the company. This leads to the decision that 20% of the work force of Motorola has to be laid off, even the top notch position holders like Vice Presidents also have to give up their jobs and a good percentage of offices mainly in India and some other parts of Asia would be targeted, more of the work would now be handled by the staff in Chicago, Sunnyvale and Beijing. The decision also extends to producing less but quality handsets each year in place manufacturing incompetent stuff. They also plan to drop a number of suppliers as well and the amount of components would also reduce consequently.

Though that would be bringing bad news to many, there is ultimate growth expected to mark in the records for Motorola.

Given a chance, what would you mainly stand up for future of the employees who lose their jobs in the process or the betterment of technology including the snatching away of career opportunities of the people? Share your views

Google, the giant in the field of technology has got an equally giant heart which takes care of its employees not just when they are working for Google, but also after death. Google's policy for death benefits is a benchmark for many others in business, as the policy has incorporated the privilege to be given to the families of the deceased. According to the policy, the spouse or the domestic partner of the deceased would receive 50% of the salary for 10 years, the deceased stocks are vested and each child of the deceased would receive an amount of $1,000 a month upto the age of 23, if the child is a full time student, else the age of aid drops down to 19.
Moreover there is no fixed number of years set for a person to complete in the company to be eligible for the benefits. S/he is eligible from the time s/he joins the company.Google however, has a modest approach towards their own policy and maintain that it is nothing to be boasted about.

There are many other privileges that the employees of Google are entitled to, like granting of parental leaves, on site facilities for dry cleaning, free food being provided and more.

It is indeed very good to know about the company dedicated to developing ultra technical stuff and making millions, has also got some focus on making the lives and even the afterlife of the people who are valuable contributors to their success, better.

[background=transparent]Google has been expanding its reach like forest fire and touched almost all possible sub fields of technology. The giant has ensured that, success follows its policies and has been researching really hard to cater to the changing tastes of the people. After setting up search engine Google , social networking site Google +,web browser Google Chrome and one of the most used mailing services of the world Gmail, it has now decided to enter into the world of sleek tablets. Google has partnered with ASUS to develop the first Nexus Tablet and they have nailed it by offering the device for just $ 200.[/background]

[background=transparent]The look of Nexus 7 is satisfactorily stylish. The back is covered with black rubber, rubber which is designed to look in a manner that makes it feel like leather. The Nexus logo stands visible at the top and the ASUS logo at the bottom. The camera is 1.2 megapixel and can be seen at the front.[/background]

[background=transparent]Nexus 7 has a single speaker which is found just above the bottom at the back of the device. In addition, a micro USB connector can be at the back as well and on the right of the back, there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack. However, on the left of the back, nothing so significantly visible is found, except a ring like thing in silver that covers almost the whole device. The thickness of the device is 10.45 mm (0.41 inches) and its weight is a mere 340 g(12 ounces). The portability factor is enhanced because of its slim and light-weighing features.[/background]

[background=transparent]Nexus 7 is powered by NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-processor at 1.2 GHz, yet it can be upgraded to 1.3 GHz when required. It has inbuilt 1GB RAM and a flash storage of 8GB which is expandable to 16GB with an extra payment of $ 50. However, there is no provision for the expansion of micro SD, which means involving another extra payment. The data connectivity can be done only by WiFi ( 802.11b/g/n). The features of NFC,GPS, Bluetooth, accelerometer, digital compass and gyroscope are however present.[/background]

[background=transparent]The 7” screen resolution is 1280x800 which is high enough to even make 720p videos look good on it and everything else viewed with sound brightness and suitable contrast.[/background]

[background=transparent]The audio, could have been better though there isn’t much to complain . The sound output is pretty decent and acceptable.[/background]

[background=transparent]Nexus 7 requires the user to be patient while booting as it takes 35 seconds for it, but the same patience can be done away with because once you start with it, it is as smooth as possible with the “Butter” coating. Loading pages( even the ones heavily loaded with apps) and swiping through seems quite convenient.[/background]

[background=transparent]There have been several tests performed on the device to check its efficiency compared to the higher priced tablets and it performs stunningly.[/background]

[background=transparent]The usual issue with tablets is that they turn “hot” when they are used for longer hours, especially when extensive gaming is taking place on the device, but Nexus 7 sweeps here too as it has been found that it gets just “toasty”.[/background]

[background=transparent]The battery works fine for more than 9.5 hours without being charged.[/background]

[background=transparent]Probably, the point that Nexus 7 is one of the most anticipated devices, because it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.[/background]

[background=transparent]In Nexus 7, the browsing using Chrome is quite smooth and open tabs on a desktop can be imported conveniently,Chrome to Phone Plugin can be uninstalled as well.[/background]

[background=transparent]There are some downsides to this device like you cannot have a dedicated HDMI output which makes it lag behind when it comes to videos. There might be occasional disturbances while some heavy app has to be loaded, but that can be ignored as most of the tablets come with similar problems, but that doesn’t even let Nexus7 get superior, the next aspect that could be worked upon is the quality of the audio which doesn’t stand upright when compared to some features. Moreover,in case of e-reading, most of the magazines are priced higher than that in Amazon and same is the case with many MP3 files. The capacity of internal storage is also limited.[/background]

As most of us know, Google Plus has a lot of users. However, most of those users hardly ever use the site. Compare this to Facebook, where more than 50% of the users log in everyday to the site and interact for a long time. Google Plus only has a huge userbase which is largely inactive. But at the same time, it has Google holding the reins. With ideas like Search Plus Your World, Google is trying hard to bring more focus onto Google Plus. The company tried hard to promote Google Buzz and Wave as well, and today both those projects are defunct. Will Google Plus be the next to follow?

I'm not a personal fan of Facebook, and do not use the site a lot. That said, most of my friends are always active on Facebook and everyday I have new apps that I need to block in order to stop getting requests from them. Facebook's success is perhaps really due to the apps on the site, and how they can make friendship seem more fun. But then, Google Plus too has a lot of apps. It hasn't worked out too well for Google Plus. In fact a lot of application developers are pulling out their apps from Plus, due to lack of users. Maybe the only reason Google Plus is failing a lot is that it's trying too hard to imitate Facebook. Also, it did not launch with a lot of features.

Facebook never had all its wonderful features back in 2004. But then it was limited only to universities. By the time it launched to the public in 2006, it had a large database of user feedback, and had introduced many of the features that we are all familiar with today. This is one of the main reasons Facebook is in the leader's position today.Google Plus spent a lot of time in development as well. But unlike Facebook, it did not have a lot of user feedback, and also, it did not launch to the public with many useful features. By the time the new features were introduced, people had already moved away from Google Plus.

What's done is done. Perhaps Google is still trying hard to increase user interaction on Google Plus, but it might be a bit too late. It's not as if the place is a ghost town. There is considerable activity going on; it's just not as large as Facebook. Now the question remains as to where will Google take the website from here. Will it gradually be phased out like Wave and Buzz, or will it continue to exist where it is now, hoping that at some point in the future it will pick up momentum? Whatever seems the case, Facebook doesn't appear to me moving from its top position anytime soon.

An old dream. A lot of people spend time trying to use it. Your personal space ongoogle, available anywhere, from any browser. Docs, pictures, what you want.
See here : google.com/start#home rel="nofollow">https://drive.google.com/start#home

Google Drive is everywhere you are—on the web, in your home, at the office and on the go. So wherever you are, your stuff is just...there. Ready to go, ready to share. Get started with 5 GB free.

Looks very nice.
And on your own PC you can install the google drive API for more copy-paste file transfers. Personally I'm not very interested by installing the API, I preferthe "from any PC" feature.

Just found out about the new offer that hostgator and google is putting out for the small business owners. I don't know what is their intention behind this offer. But it seems to me that they're interested in getting small business in india to the world wide web with this offer. They're offering free domain name, hosting and free adwords voucher to the users of hostgator. I don't know how long this offer is going to last but if you're small business owner or employee then try to see if you can get your business under this offer. It won't be free forever with both domain and hosting. Sooner or later you are going to pay for the service. But till then you can get more exposure for your service. I found out that it is good offer despite their intentions.

So what's the offer ? They have a target of 500,000 small business hosting and domain name and adwords voucher distribution. They're offering .in domain name for the customers for free during their free period. Mind you, .in domain name is costly and when you renew it's going to cost you more than .com or .net domains. Either way renewals are going to cost you for sure. Small business owners are also going to get google apps for small business for free for first year. If they have less users in the system then the offer remains pretty much free even after the period for google apps. Adwords voucher of about 2500RS is also going in the giveaway. Though there are hardly any benefits anymore for adwords, but you can still drive some traffic using adwords.

This looks like a good offer for those who want to use Google adwords and the apps for their business. As indian small business percentages are above 8 Million, i don't know how many are going to pick this offer. Anyway, hope this helps to all those who want to try adwords for their website.

I didn't use it, and I didn't really know how useful it was supposed to be, nevertheless it disappears.

To be honest, until a few days ago, I was unaware of the existence of Google's affiliate program. I have a healthy information about other affiliate programs out there like Commission junction, click bank, amazon affiliates, but I never heard of Google Affiliate Program.

Affiliate marketing is one area I never got. I have tried different programs but none works for me. I have a healthy website to place my affiliate products on, but there is something I don't do right. Maybe the traffic I get is not enough to make me a successful affiliate. But that's another story. For the time, I just need reviews on google affiliate network.

So has anyone tried this network before? When I signed-up for the program, it looked a bit restricted. In first place, you have to get your website approved by Google. Then aferwards, you have to get approved by every program you apply to join. The process can take weeks or even more. Moreover there is not enough information about how much you would get when you make a successful sale. Probably I can't get to the information, but in either case it is not a good thing. The information should be available easily to every one.

Thus I can say that my first impression of the Google affiliate program was not very good. I was not impressed. I was expecting something of the level of google adsense.

However, there is a possibility that I was unable to extract enough information. I have registered my website (which has been approved) but I haven't started displaying their products on my website yet. I am waiting and trying to do some in depth research about the program first. If I cannot make good money with it, I am not going to waste my time on it at all. I would rather go for another program.

Can anyone guide me or tell me more about google affiliate program? Any help is appreciated.

Yesterday, when I checked my email, I found a newsletter sent to me by webpronews. I like their news letters, because they are very informative and I read almost all of them. This time the news letter was about a new algorithm update from google, which according to webpronews, might be a good news for webmasters affected by panda. The newsletter itself was not of much interest for me, because my website is not among those who were affected by the notorious panda update from google. In fact, I neither saw a rise nor a decline in the traffic I receive from google, so the topic itself was of little interest for me. However, when I read the news letter, I was really impressed by the way the webpronews put the information together. I liked the story they referred to in the newsletter so I thought I would share it with you people here.

The story was about the Daniweb forum. Reportedly, daniweb.com was among the top 100 websites which were classified as collateral damage in Google's war against content farms. Lot of websites have written about them that they didn't deserve to be affected by the panda update. Few months ago, I watched an interview of "Dani", the creator of the website. In that interview, she clearly said that all of their content is 100% original and no one by no means can classify them as content farm. She stated that after the panda update, the website is facing a 50% drop in the search traffic from the US. She said that although she is absolutely clear about her site being falsely affected by the update, she would still try to make some changes to make big G happy, so that it start loving her website again.

After the recent update, which google's officials classify as a minor update (one of the 500 minor post panda updates scheduled for this year), the daniweb.com has not only restored to the pre panda traffic stats for US but has also exceeded the mark for some other countries. According to daniweb.com, they haven't made any significant changes lately, which could potentially cause such a drastic improvement. And as the improvement is visible directly after the mentioned post panda algo update, most likely this update is behind it. So finally, daniweb's voice has been heard and they are reinstated to their original position.

In contrast to daniweb.com, other websites which were also classified as a collateral damage by many, may not be as lucky. There is a great chance that many of them wouldn't have seen such recovery in terms of their search traffic, but at least the silver lining in the dark cloud has become visible. This update clearly shows that Google has realized that panda was not as sophisticated as such a major update should be and that they need to make some changes to make user experience better. I personally think that google is giving too much attention to its competition with facebook lately and may have made some wrong moves in the process. Their supreme authority is search (not social media) and they should be more concerned about user experience on their search engine (not social media). Yes, moving to the social side is a good move but not quickly after making such major updates to their search.

Although google repeatedly says that according to their data, search relevancy has increased by some percentage points (I don't remember the exact value) but many users (including myself) have issues with the search. Sometimes (around once for every 10 different searches), I get more non relevant results than relevant ones. In addition, recently I repeatedly see "Shopping Results" for my queries, which I don't like at all. I don't know about others, but I don't like such stuff. Google should recognize the difference between queries meant for search and those meant for shopping. They are mixing their results too much.

What do you think of Google Panda. Have your site been affected by Panda lately? It's said that some site owners in america are already affected by it and have lost significant amount of traffic down to 50%.

Yesterday a few Employees of Google launched Android into space. And by that I mean they attached the Nexus S mobile phone, powered by Google's very own android, to seven different weather ballons, and let them fly.

The phones were equipped with custom gps apps witten specifically for this stunt. They had the high quality cameras running the whole time, and an unedited video to show for it.

The ballons reached a predetermined height of 100,000 feet, before exploding, dripping the phone back too earth.

They tracked the phones position and video live from laptops on the launch site. They even used Google's sky map to track any stars visible from the voyage.

I think it's awesome to see a big company like that can still have fun on a level like that. It goes right along with their typical April fools jokes every year.
Almost makes me want to switch from iPhone, knowing Apple would never do something like this. Keep your sense of humor and fun, Google.

Edit: Found the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8XjIkdUQns
