We already have a network setup throughout the house, but it is my task to upgrade the whole thing. The first piece of equipment to be...

QUOTE

Is it possible to have two computers in the same home each connected to separate ethernet outlets? That way both have faster connections (100 mbps vs 54 with wireless G).

Here is an interesting question: What's on your LAN? Mine has:
  1. 3 Laptops
  2. 1 Tower (currently awaiting new hardware so it really isn't on the LAN)
  3. 1 Printer
  4. 1 External USB Hard disk
  5. 1 Windows 95 computer acting as a storage server
Yes, that last item really does say Windows 95, lol. I get old computers...

I don't know. I've been using my 160gb for a year and half now without any problems. Take it with me everywhere i go ... home, friend's college, train journeys ... even to my relative's to fix their comps and install software ... no problems yet. That's the reason I bought the 200gb, so I can take all the mp3s...

well, i would recommend linksys over d-link or any others, just because it's easier to use, and more compatible with xp. another hint on how to monitor your system without securing your wireless network is to get a program to monitor your lan...they're free...check out Look@lan, just google it.
