You can watch videos on YouTube, but you may want to save them off-line for later viewing, this is not possible by default. Although there is a free program that allows you to download videos from YouTube. The name of this program is YouTube downloader, download it from here > http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Down...onwloader.shtml

Some sites will give you a direct link to download the video, but this program just needs the video's URL in YouTube then it will save the video in either FLV, MPEG, or AVI file format for you. You may watch the videos downloaded in Windows Media Player. This program is adware, malware, popup, and registration free. It can also download from Google videos, and supports proxies.

That is a cool article. Someone put a lot of thought into that joke. But it is true lol. Windows Air how often does that happen to the new Windows Vista (I dont have it but aparently from people I know it happens a lot). They should make a youtube video out of that. I dont know how but if someone ever found a way to it would get lots of hits. Think about that just sitting there and the word Unix comes up then a scene of 50 people bringing random airplane parts and trying to asemble them on the runway.
Thanks,
Sparkx

Capturing outgoing sound from your sound card is actually a really simple task, and doesn't even require a special program!
First you need to access your computer's volume control. You can get there either by double-clicking the speaker icon on your task bar, or by going into your control panel, entering the sound and audio configuration window, and there clicking the "advanced" button in the volume panel. I'm sorry I can't give you the exact names for all these things... I run a Hebrew version of Windows XP.
Now in the volume control window go to the options menu, and click properties. You will have a choice between seeing playback and recording controls, so choose the latter and close the dialog. Now you will have a couple of volume sliders, with a check box saying "Select" beneath them. You need to select the output of your sound card. I have two such controls- "Wave encoder" and "Mono Out." Both work great for me. You might have something similarly named, but it depends on your sound card and system configuration, I guess. After you have selected the right control, you can now use any recording program to capture sound from your sound card! Even the basic sound recording application that's bundled with Windows and is limited to 1 minute of audio will work.
I personally recommend using Audacity for recording and manipulating audio. It's free, open-source, reliable, and quite user-friendly! The only thing that is not really intuitive about it is enabling MP3 compression on it. On the other hand, really simple instructions for doing that exist here. Once you've installed Audacity and LAME, you can easily press record and save whatever you hear through your sound card to MP3!

I hope this helped...
If you need more assistance don't hesitate!

Hi,
I recently downloaded an NVIDIA DVD decoder on my laptop, but when I try to watch a DVD, the picture appears pixelated unless I fast-forward or rewind. Is it a problem with the resolution or with the software I bought? I'm a complete idiot when it comes to these things. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

Microsoft has released a new development platform (I think it is) called Microsoft SilverLight. It is supposed to bring rich, interactive, streaming media into a cross-browser, cross-platform environment. (Personally, I think they are ignoring Opera).

The development team is working hard to get this running on Firefox as well as Internet Explorer. They are adding support for "major, leading browsers" quickly and efficiently when possible. Macintosh users (for Mac OS X) can also download this application which is under 2MB in size. You can download SilverLight 1.0 Beta here. There is also a SilverLight 1.1 Alpha, which isn't functioning fully (of course, because it is alpha).

The content is based off XAML as well as AJAX and can be developed in a variety of programming languages such as Python, C#, Visual Basic .NET, JavaScript and more. It says that it will effectively integrate with existing infrastructure of your site, without disturbing server stuff and whatnot. The media is based off of Windows Media technologies (of course) and can include vector graphics (SVG perhaps?). Because of the advanced technology, their system requirements demand quite a bit also:

128 MB ram, Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista, IE6 or 7, Firefox 1.5.0.8 or Firefox 2 and above.

I think that this technology will eventually replace Flash. It can also replace embedded Windows Media players in web pages because SilverLight supports High-Definition video, that is, if you have the technology to view HD videos. I would like to see SilverLight as well as SVG to grow in usage because they are excellent technologies that can be built on and improved. It gives developers a whole new level to develop on, it can "Light Up the Web".

ATTENTION ALL READERS! WINDOWS VISTA IS AWESOME - I REPEAT - WINDOWS VISTA IS AWESOME!

I think Windows Vista is an incredibly good operating system which allows you to do so much more than XP. The new look, design, simplicity, controls and layout are all fantastic. I've got a clock and a calendar on the right hand side of my desktop and all my icons easier and clearer to recognise. It takes under 5 seconds to log in and the graphics are just great. I've got Windows Vista Home Premium and as long as I install the compatible drivers, all the software works!

I'd also like to mention that I play RuneScape, and once I had the new Java installed, I could keep the Premium layout when I play because without the new Java, the layout will switch to Basic. You can download the new Java program at Java.com.

Hope you enjoy reading!

See you soon, pplz.

One possibility could be going from a wireless connection to a wired connection to your modem, of course assuming that you are even using wireless.

In some programs, such as Windows Media Player, you can raise the buffer and might get some performance increase. In Windows Media Player:

1. Depending on the Windows Media Player view, you will have to take different actions to get to the proper dialog box. This assumes that you are in the default Full mode view.
2. Right click the title bar and select Tools and then Options.
3. Click the Performance tab.
4. Set the desired changes in the Network Buffering section.

Buffering is just storing content before the media starts playing. Some will notice a short pause before the media plays and this is just the application saving data in hopes that small network dips will not be noticed. The ultimate solution is of course getting more bandwidth. If you are tiring to watch a HD movie on a 56k modem connection no amount of buffering will help you unless you download the entire movie before you play it. Getting more bandwidth usually means paying your ISP more money for a better plan.

And in Europe the release date is September 17th.
Heres the minimum system requirements:

QUOTE

Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 3 or Vista Service Pack 1
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (or equivalent) CPU running at 3,2GHz or higher (3.4GHz for Windows Vista)
Memory: 1GB RAM (Vista 2GB)
Hard Drive Space: 10 GB of free space
Graphics Hardware: 256 MB RAM with Pixel Shader 3 (PCI-Ex)
Sound Hardware : DirectX 9.0c compliant card (DirectX 10.1 compliant if applicable)
DVD Drive: 8X or faster DVD Drive
For Online Play: Network card with broadband connectivity
Source

This is the minimum system requirements. So you should have better than that for beter game play without any glitches.

There are two more released soon after this, Need for Speed: Nitro and Need for Speed: World Online. While the former is an arcade style game, the later is a free-to-play MMO which would be first released in Asia and then the west.

On my Windows Vista SP2 machine, Safari runs quite fast. The lack of extensibility is still a big disadvantage to me though. I like the Developer tools where it visually shows you the process of scripts and the network progress though.

On my Windows XP SP3 computer, Safari runs extremely slowly for some reason. It uses the same network settings over the wireless network but compared to other browsers, Safari doesn't load the pages half the time for some reason.

Overall my browser preferences would go in this order:
Firefox/Flock, Google Chrome/Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer, Konqueror

Novatel USB CardHook Xbox 360 To Laptop.I have a sprint usb novatel card for my pc and I get on xbox live with it by hooking a ethernet cable up from your xbox 360 to your pc then either bridging the connections or using sharing on the novatel to local area connection. I took me awhile to mess around with it and it depends on what version of windows you have. I have windows 7 and you have to use sharing but I think xp and vista you can bridge which is 10x easier. Look for a youtube video.-reply by LSULambert

I use Opera as my primary browser, it's not the lightest browser, but it's blazing fast and has all the features and tools I need.
On my virtual windows environment I use Google Chrome as my primary browser because I only need a safe application for surfing the web.
IE is only used when something doesn't work in Opera or Chrome (hasn't happend for a while, except google chrome which failed while surfing msnd  ).

For developping website I use all browsers available that are commonly used (Opera 8.5/9.6, Firefox 2/3, Safari, IE5/6/7/8, Chrome)

Now that I've had a chance to use a Mac computer, it seems too easy to use once you know where stuff is. Being a fast learner, I don't like it very much. Because I am used to using Windows, I have some questions about Macs for the Mac experts around here.

1. Where is the text editor? Gedit (or Pico) in Linux, Notepad in Windows, ??? in Mac.
2. iWeb. As I understand from reading the page on Apple, iWeb allows you to instantly publish your photos, movies, etc to the web with a few clicks. Where do you write the HTML code in this application?
3. Are there any virus/spyware that are compatible with Mac that I can install/run?
4. Is there Windows Live Messenger for Mac? Most of my friends use Windows Live, so that is one of my must-have applications.
5. Are there different flavours of Mac OS X? For Windows Vista, there is Home Premium, Home Basic, Business, Ultimate and Starter. I have a variety to choose from that way.
6. Is Microsoft Office for Mac the same as Microsoft Office for Windows? With the same features and everything?
7. Is it true that Linux applications are Mac-compatible?
8. Where is the taskbar? The Dock is similar to the All Programs menu, and the Menu bar has a clock, but where is the taskbar?
9. Is there any Speech Recognition technology in Mac?
10. The final question: Is there such a feature as User Account Control? There is in Vista (which is the biggest reason I like it), and in Ubuntu (which I enjoy very much). If Mac doesn't have it, that will definitely by a huge issue for me, as the whole point of upgrading to Vista is to experience the fun and exciting UAC!

I'll find out if Mac is for me, or that I should stick with Windows and Ubuntu.

So, what does everyone think about googles' new web browser idea?

http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/fre...on-browser.html

Will anyone be getting the beta when it's released?

Here is what one of my friends thinks of the project (from another forum). He has a BSc & MSc in computer science and information security (we're old uni mates). He usually knows his stuff when it comes to things like this.

QUOTE

I note that the article linked indicates Google will be using Apple's Webkit rendering engine, rather than Mozilla's Gecko engine. The article also states they'll be using elements of Firefox as well as WebKit, but I wonder what parts of Firefox they'll be using. They state they have developed their own JavaScript interpreter, though personally I think SquirrelFish, another one from the WebKit folks, is more than fast and capable enough. I really hope they're not using any Firefox UI elements, because frankly I despise the Firefox UI, especially on the Mac where Mozilla refuse to use the Apple unified window manager, Aqua, and hence Firefox looks completely out of place on the Mac desktop. I haven't looked at the specifics of this new browser, but one thing that does interest me is sandboxing of tabs. I usually have 5+ tabs or windows open at any one time and a browser crash on one of them takes them all out---a very frustrating experience. I'm interested to see what sort or resource hit there might be to this though, as obviously each tab would be less able to share application memory and thus use more exclusive memory. I'm not sure if this one feature will be enough to make my migrate from Safari though, especially given they'll be running the same renderer.

My opinion (for the interested) of the Webkit and SquirrelFish engines can be found here.

He is also a BIG apple fan!
