Sony,Tohsiba and Nec annouced one common effort to develop new chips with 45nm technologies.

Few days after intel released the processor prototype with the same technologie, that may only arrive to market in the second semester of 2007. The most advanced processor already in market has 65 nm, and its the current limit industry.

Wow .... paper thin! or thinner? How thin is a piece of paper btw? biggrin.gif

I guess there is no limit to technology. The way it's advancing is just astounding.

I hope they develope a strong competetor for intel quickly. Intel seemed a little too happy with the possibility of having the 45nm market to themselves for awhile. I assume these companies won't be able to develope the chip and get it out for the intel release (unless they've been secretely working on it without telling anyone) but just knowing more is comming will keep Intel from getting over confident, and thats means better chips at better prices biggrin.gif
