I was looking for a website content management system for my website as well as my customers' one. I had tested many of them among website CMS and portals which are written in Java and PHP. I found that phpwcms is really flexible, powerful and easy to deploy. It is simple but looks great. I have also visited some of the websites that are using phpwcms and they look fantastic! I wonder why people haven't introduced it here.
phpwcms is an Open Source web content management system released under the GNU General Public License. You can use it for free. phpwcms works on any standard webserver platform that supports PHP/MySQL and was tested successfully on Windows 2000/XP, MacOSX and LINUX. You can visit the website at http://www.phpwcms.de and receive great support and guidance from their forum (http://www.phpwcms.de/forum). They also have a place at (http://www.phpwcms-docu.de) from which you can get latest document and news about the application. If you are in it, then this address is what you'd need next http://dev.brenner.be. All information on phpwcms add-ons could be found here. As a newbie to CMS software, you would find it difficult to get the hand of page layout and template (just like me). Make sure you following a tutorial on their forum about making a simple website. All steps to get you to a website are explained and illustrated in details. There are a lot of professional features (built-in template system, page layout wizard, file manager, thumbnail creation, internal chatting, user management, search engine, forums, etc.) implemented to make it easy for publishers as well as website developers. It does support many content types such as html (include editors), file list, e-cards, email forms, guestbook, RSS, sitemap, multimedia, newsletter, etc. It is not very hard to integrate some of your work into phpwcms by making an add-on or replacement tag. I have integrated my shoutbox into it with not much of work. You can download and try my shoutbox at http://coolersport.info (in my portfolio). I would rate this application 10/10 even though the new version is still in beta stage. I am using the latest beta and I am fine with a few minor bugs which would be fix in the next release. However, if you are afraid of testing new features in the beta version, there is a stable one for you, get it at their website to. In my opinion, it's worth to experiment with the new version. I reckon phpwcms is one of the best CMS software I have ever used and I would recommend it to you. |
