Today I will be showing you how to make the style "Inedible Orange" that I created for my tutorials site's header. I have included two variations of the style in the .asl file, one for dark backgrounds (v.1) and one for light backgrounds (v.2). I don't have the header finished yet, so here's another example:
![]() For pictures of how the applied settings should look on your text, click on the settings image. This style can be used on any color background, but for the tutorial I will be working on a black background since it is easiest to see. Now with that said, create a new image with a size to fit your text. In my case, I'm using a 95px font (Bastarda) so I started with a 450x150 image. 1. Type your desired text in any color (but it looks best on #FF9900) and try to center it. ![]() 2. Now it's time for the effects - We'll start with Bevel and Emboss. Click on the "f" icon on your Layers palette and go to Bevel and Emboss. ![]() 3. Use these settings ![]() 4. Next, we'll apply the Inner Shadow ![]() 5. Then Inner Glow ![]() 6. Now the Outer Glow ![]() 7. Finally, add a Stroke ![]() There ya go! If you are having trouble understanding the settings, or would rather just get the style prepackaged, you may download it here: SunBlind's Inedible Orange Good Luck! |
