Ola a Todos
This tutorial will show you how to convert a photo in to a pencil sketch. Step 1 Open your photo in Adobe Photoshop. Step 2 ![]() Right click on Background layer and choose "Duplicate layer" Step 3 Now, lets convert the new layer in to black and white. For this we'll use a shortcut CTRL+Shift+U, or just go to image->adjustments->desaturate Step 4 Duplicate a copy of the new Background layer, so that the new layer we will work on step 5 is above all others. Step 5 ![]() Click on the new layer and press Ctrl+I to invert, and after that set layer mode on color dodge. Step 6 Now, we will add a Gaussian blur filter (Filter - Blur - Gaussinan blur...) on that layer with a radius of 2.0px and if necessarily decrease opacity a little. ![]() Done d^_^b |

I like this technique quite a bit. Now I can fool people into thinking I'm a better artist than I actually am.
I've found that you can add a bit of "shading" to it by lowering the opacity of the final layer to about 90%. Thanks for the tutorial, I'm glad I've learned this technique. My repertoire is slowly but surely growing, and I'm happy to be able to get more out of photoshop. |

Ooh this effect is used a lot, I think it's quite nice. But personally, it's slightly overused and the image turns out a tad bit grainy.
I found this tutorial: http://aethereality.net/tutorials/preview/16/ (in no way is it affilated with me, by the way). It's a bit more realistic. Thanks for the tutorial anyway. |

Photo to Pencil drawing
Photoshop Tutorial: Pencil Sketch Open Photo in Adobe Photoshop CS 8. Click Image>Mode>Grayscale. Correct the photo if necessary with Adjustments>Autolevels or with Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast controls. Next step is to go to Filter>Sketch>Photocopy and choose Detail value 1 or 2 and Darkness value somewhere around 30 - 40, depending upon the results seen. Increasing the detail value gives a 'painted with a broad brush' effect. Experimenting with the results previewed, is key for results that are nice to look at. -reply by C V L and SASTRY (INDIA) |
