Stuck after step 19
How To Change Your Ip Address. Everything goes smoothly until step 19. After all the steps are done the MSDOS prompt screen is still there staring at me. How do I get out of it.? It will not "X" out and I eventually end up having to unplug my computer to get rid of it. Help! -reply by Dion |

press CTRL+C to cancel whatever task is running on msdos, and then type "exit" without the quotes

It is neither, actually. But these instructions WILL change your IP address, just as he says. The IP address should renew automatically after the change. |

How To Change Your Ip Address. Replying to matthewk Matthewk, interesting procedure. I "sort of" found the right page in step 4, but I am confused by step 5 - where exactly I enter the 12 digit number? Sounds like a nice procedure, though could use more explaining. |

I am using a Realtek network card , and I did the following:
Network Connections --> Right click in your connection --> Properties --> Configure your Ethernet Card--> Advanced tab--> Network Address --> enter new 12 digit value Whether or not you can do this probably depends on your network card. Also I'm not sure whether I have changed the internal or external IP this way (any ideas?) -reply by proton |
