I believe I did post somewhere on the importance of punctuation, mind you; mine is far from perfect. I was never taught the correct use of punctuation in the English language, and it does differ from my native language. But still... In the post I quoted, I see no punctuation, it reads a lot harder than a post with punctuation, this is simply due to the fact that even in reading we need "breaks". That is how punctuation ended up in languages, to create a break, to breathe when speaking, or just pause when reading. |

So that's what punctuation is? lol, been awhile since I have heard that one.
I also never really learnt any of that kind of thing in school, dropped out somewhat midway through year 8 (second year of high school for me here in Australia). I never grasped too well when to use comma's and all that sort of thing, I'd like to believe I have improved a lot since using a computer, just trying to do the best I can sort of thing. Doubt I would be anywhere near a professional level though lol. |

It is not that hard. Really. Take this test for starters:
http://www.better-english.com/easier/theyre.htm Boasting aside, I did get 100%, but that is because of the work I put into fixing my grammar a little bit. I had a lot of problems with "there/their/they're," along with things like, "you're/your." Now if only they had a your/you're quiz... |

Thanks For Bringing This Up! People Don't Have Patience So They Just Start To Make 5 Word Posts To Make There Hosting Credit Go Higher. Or People Just Quote Other Member Who Had Made A Big Post And Say Something Like "I Totally 100% Agree With You On This" I Hate People Who Do That! There Cheating, They shouldn't even be allowed to have free web hosting. I'm Glad That You Guys Have This Rule That You Must Have More Than 25 Words On a Post Otherwise It Counts As Spam! Once Again Thanks For Bringing This Up!

Once Again Thanks For Bringing This Up! Since I don't strive for hosting, nor am part of the admin team here - at least not anymore. I can happily post /facepalm in response to that post. Seriously, capitalized words indicate the beginning of a new sentence, punctuation as I've said before *does* matter. Caps are not a way to win. For the love of spelling and grammar, please don't take an example out of the quoted text. It made my eyes bleed. |

Yeah, using capitals for all words isn't as bad as literal all caps, but it is still rather annoying and a bad habit to get into.
Or at least that is what I think. You never know when you may have to write or type out a serious document and/or letter and use caps too much without thinking |

I think the short posts come from one reason - people want to get their web as soon as possible. Patience is not characteristic for many people in this nuber me too
Anyway I should've done it in a different way - once you have the account you must post consistent messages. If not your account can get suspended and even cancelled. In this way you'll be getting much more valuable posts especially what concerns the technical point - once you work on your web, you'll be heaped under myriad of smaller or bigger issues - related to writing scripts, adding material and graphics design...also making your site searchable which by far I don't know if it is possible with altahost account. Well thats my own opinion. It has its drowback - more commitment for you who has to accept people on good will and then to evaluate them... Cheers, |
