QUOTE(marijnnn @ Feb 18 2005, 04:41 AM) hey, well: astahost & trap17 ARE lower quality, which is only normal. off course, you also have a lot of space & bandwith, but you have to share the same line & server with a lot more other clients. so the server is more stressed, the line more occupied and thus slower. if you want really good & reliable hosting, you have to pay for it, that's it. then you have the right to complain too. i've had some problems with astahost, but hey, it's a free service and it's as good as it gets for free, so i'm quite happy. however, i'll probably get myself paid hosting. alas, not on computing, but a belgian or dutch company as that's where i live. i think you'll understand the reasons as the price is about the same. support in my language and the guys are awake at the same time as i am, while opaque lives in the us is and wakes up when i have lunch haha, the lazy ass! hehe. I don't think that you're being really friendly saying "the lazy ass" (even though I'm not sure who you're talking about) |

It seems to me that the author may not be a native English speaker. Minor inconsistancies in the grammer throws off the pace of the reader. Most people wouldn't even be conscience of the flaws but an unconscience awareness could be a real turn off for some people.
I could be mistaken, or perhapes a little grammer check may be needed. I agree that the page seems to be too cluttered. I suggest that you actively advertise the free hosting on the paid hosting site and vise versa. Perhapes the interest will cause some one to try your free service prior to buy your other service. There needs to be a bigger difference between plans. Just storage and BW differences will make large clients feel that they are underapprecieted. People need to be made to feel special. I know that certain services are free but should be by request only. Perl, PHP, MySQL are common freebies but use server resources. Hold some things back just for the big clients. If the little guy wants it, just give it to him. By the way, if the customer will only pay $9.95/yr for a host, probably can't afford microsoft frontpage. I don't know for sure as I don't use FrontPage. Why offer unlimited Parked Domains, MYSQL Databases, Sub-Domains. Throw them in on Business packages but charge a minimal fee for more than one otherwise. You seem to be offering BMW's to everyone at varying prices. good luck vujsa |

Nice point. I had thought about it. But then, Since all the plans have been set and there are already more than 50 clients, I dont know If I should reduce the lower plans.
Also, There are hundreds of other companies who are giving the same amount of features (unlimited) for low prices. Some are even lower than mine. Anyway, I will think about this. As for the language, Can you please PM me any particular corrections. |

Hey, just a thought.
Perhapes offering a small discount to active forum members would boost your paid hosting numbers. Just a small incentive to leave the free hosting and start paying for hosting but require hosting credits from forum posts. Of course the offer would have to be for a better package that the standard free package. I'll start a poll and see what the membership thinks. happy administrating, vujsa |

HI Opaque,
I figured saying hi would be nice First of all, great job Flash header What I would definately try to avoid (someone mentioned it in the thread) is the sound, it is nice when you first open the site, but it plays each time you click on a link and that can get quite annoying. (I apologize for the lack of tact, I am pretty tired, got bronchitis and am not even native English Content First oopsie I noticed was on the lower part of the page, where you point out the key features of the three packages. First package you use the phraze "unlimited everything else" and in the other two package "unlimited everything", I'd just leave that away all together. And where you can click for "More info", I'd make the colour slightly darker, it is pretty pale and therefore not that visible. Links? http://www.computinghost.com/plans.html -> error page, file not found? http://www.computinghost.com/solutions.htmll#top see the oopsie in the URL (.htmll double l) - about, contact and support links have the same issue and none of those can be found... I know this seems like a long list, and maybe it even makes you feel bad, because of the length. But you did an AWESOME job on it so far.. keep up the good work... *idea* Since you've used flash so much already, maybe it would be easier to use dynamic text in a movieclip within a flash file? That way the header doesn't always reload (and also prevents the sound from playing every reload), the text can be styled with CSS and then you only have to create text/html files. Maybe a useful idea? (don't ask me exactly how to do this, since I am trying to figure this out for my own site This post has been edited by moonwitch: Mar 2 2005, 10:56 PM |

Maybe make a version without sound for every page other than the first... how about a nice little flash intro? That would be so awsome!

I think you have already got a lot of feedback
but i always suggest that you offer multiple domain hosting in you packages as far as i know it doesnt not take any extra work to setup cos i have faced the problem of the wasted space i have a few sites which are less than an mb in space and take only around 100mb of BW per month and just to host that site i have to take a 5 mb account with useless bandwidth when i could host 5 sites on the same account and still have plenty of spare badnwidth left so that is the main thing i would love you ppl to have in cos i want to go in for paid hosting without any limits and the plans should also be realisitic like some plans offer plenty of space but not enough bandwidth so keep it like that and then ofcourse no downtimes give free site uptime services and a lot of preinstalled scripts then the list is really long but then i would also like you to offer unlimited domina pointer or atleast a good amount that is around 25 domain pointers and atleast 25 add on domains for any of the plans atleast I stress again please do not upgrade you php too soon or your apache too soon always use the the most stablest version rather than the lates version for eg in php i had a host that proudly upgraded to 5 and many scripts had problems executing well that is like a wish list actually so if you give all these things then you can count me in as a future customer |

QUOTE(2PacFan @ Mar 5 2005, 09:30 PM) Actually believe it or not, that's a really good point. vBulletiin is intsantly more professional looking and although costs a little more than Invision, it does feel much higher quality and is worth taking a look at. |
