My simple answer to your difficult problem " GET Another Dad , and ask Him to Get You a DVD not a CD " ( Just Kidding ) .

You can boot and install the Distros from a flash drives you may google for that

Better install Linux in VMware, u can use the virtual CD or ISO image directly..
before your dad will buy some CD's for you wink.gif
I have instaled 5 Linux Distro.. and test them.. to find the ONE smile.gif
