i prefer windows over linux because of its simplicity in use and has a good working enviourment while linux is a complex as compared to windows, windows is way good also because a large no. of softwares are compatible with windows as compared to linux and linux though have these problems it is good for security and stability as many virus that hurts windows dont do any harn to linux ,linus is also good for webservers compared to windows hence we can see the majority part of internet hosted on linux servers

I think Windows XP is best because it has a very user friendly enviornment, and security is good. It is easy to find what you are looking for with windows XP, and Microsoft makes Windows easy to use. Also partly because the only other operating system I have ever used is windows 98, rofl. Hope this can help your poll out!

I'm with sliverfox. I've heard too many problems with vista, and I've been using xp for about 3 years now. Mac & Linux I've never used though a friend of mine has a mac and she tells me that it has never given her probs. So I would go with Mac, or XP.

I'd love to participate but it's posted in the wrong section. Moved.
Plus, I voted for MacOS X since it's easy to use and it's quite secure. xboxrulz |

It's Windows XP for me. It's what I have always used. I agree, it could be a little bit better, but I like it okay. I might go for Vista once it reaches the state where all the bugs are gone. I like PX because of all the programs/software thats available for it. I like to personalize my computer, and you find more tools for Windows than Linux or any other operating system. Well, thats my opinion!

I'm also with Windows XP, I don't much like the sound of Vista (is it even really needed, probably not), it has the most of everything really and it's the most widely supported at this time.

Well Vote =] at astahost the rule of thumb is usually a post should be at least 3 lines long.... if you don't have much to say it's okay once in a while but why don't you post your favorite OS? mine's mac osx because it's better than linux and they both originated from UNIX but windows XP is okay but vista is terrible i think vista is actually so bad that microsoft is going to have to make alot of updates. also vista stole so much from osx. -osx has a 3d chess board -vista has a 3d chess board -in osx you can change your board to wood metal marble or grass -in vista it's wood metal slate or grass similar? no vista has slate! -osx has spotlight for searching your computer -vista has search -osx is in the top right corner -vista bottom left -osx has little arrows for folders in finder -vista has changed the color of gray and put it in their os. -osx is not bad -vista is bad - please note the use of bad in both explanations! |

For me it's XP or linux. I like tweaking all sorts of things and linux can do just that, although i've never used linux on a desktop pc. My only experience of linux are on remote servers.
XP because of it's ease of use and game performance, easily beats vista. As i've said in nearly all of these vista/xp/other OS threads, i will only upgrade to vista when microsoft fix it. -HellFire |

My favorite os is definetly windows vista. It is so stable, haven't had any issues with it so far.....and it runs so fast and smooth compared to windows xp.
Also, the overal ease of use (once you get used to it), is so much better than previous versions of windows....just the sheer way things are laid out, makes finding out how to do a task easy. Yes, there is a learning curve, and you do need a computer with fairly good graphics capabilities, but other than that, it is really nice, especially with a dual core processor at work. |
