I have a similar laptop.
I'd try to shift RAM up to 1GB if you want a good gaming performance. Mine has Radeon Xpress200M, wich is less powerful than that nVidia one, eventhough I can play many games fluently. That processor will usually work on 800MHz for energy saving, it will automatically switch to 1,6 or 2.0 GHz depending on it's needs. When gaming it may be at 2.0GHz full time, so you should be plugged to AC if you want to play for more than 30 minutes hehehe |

First of all, why would you want a Compaq for gaming?!?! Compaqs were designed for Business users. If you want gaming, get the Acer Ferrari 5000:

I have finally settled with Acer Aspire 5101. The same configuration as that of Compaq, but with 1GB Ram.
Yeah I know the Ferrari series rocks... but I need the laptop for light gaming and more of a mobile workstation. I need to be working on a website concept along with my peers in the office (where we secretly work on our home grown project) and back at home where I work alone but have loads of time to spend. Tell me one thing guys, can we upgrade a laptop display adapter? Can I later move onto a high end GeForce card? |

Only with certain models. I don't think you can upgrade that Acer aspire. I have the same series, the 5116 US model. It's not awesome at games, but decent and above all cheap. I don't know whether that was a good thing or not, as i've already had to send it in for servicing. I never wanted an Acer in the first place unless it was a ferrari, but it was what my budget allowed.
