I know people who play WoW and also GW. Personally, I only play GW. I've been playing since public release and I've played multiple characters through both the Prophecies (Original campaign) and Factions (New 'Expansion' game). Personally, if you like storyline, go for the Prophecies game (Factions has a great story, but it's not as long).
However, if you like PvP (like I do) then Factions would be the game to get first. The reason for this is that in Factions ANet added Allaince Battles, which pits the Luxons vs. the Kurzicks in a 12v12 style capture the flag battle. It's a lot of fun and also a pretty easy way to make some money (trade in faction from winning for amber chunks or jade shards). It's fine for the casual gammer also, as the lvl cap is low, and easily achievable in a week or less. GW is a great game, and I would recommend it to anyone. |

I could definitely recommend playing wow. If you arent afraid of getting addicted, you won't be disappointed of wow. It got everything, lots of quest, some (well maybe not too great) pvp, big PvE content and alot of things to discover. The world is bigger than you think at first

I played WoW a lot through a friend's account (I can't really afford these monthly fees), and I must it's pretty nice for a MMORPG. I usually don't like them because the storyline sucks, you can do very little compared to single player counterparts I'm used to play, so that's why they usually disappoint me somehow.
It's a huge world, with tons of people, which is great to join parties, guilds, do PvP (not that amazing, since it's too "standardized" nowadays) and exchange products you obtain or assemble. But the graphics are outdated, and and it's too time spending intensive. Normal people can't stand playing a game *at least* 4 hours a day to get decent items, gold, experience... Also the mechanism relies much on the items, and usually the nice ones are a pain to get, what might be frustrating to some people. I heard so many good things about Guild Wars that I'm willing to try a little. Also, the more realistic less cartoony graphics do attract me. For casual gamers like me, seems like a wise choice. In case anyone knows some way to get a trial or something, let me know. |

I have played both GW and WoW and I have this to say imo
Guild Wars Pro's 1. Realistic character models 2. Linear to a point but very open ended 3. Way more mature players 4. Very deep storyline 5. Great "tutorial" mode 6. No monthly subscription 7. Highly intelligent AI system for allies and enemies 8. Tactical PvP system 9. Streaming update system 10. 1 or 2 server...Barely any lag...Even on dial up Guild Wars Con's 1. Too many loading screens although they run really quickly 2. No X-Axis..Meaning you can't jump, swim, or climb. GW2 will have these features though 3. With the release of a new campaign, in the previous campaign some of the smaller towns are uninhabited by players 4. Only one true expansion pack 5. Everything out of outpost/town areas are instances Wow Pro's 1. Ability to play on a free server..If you know where to get one 2. Really really big environment 3. Almost no load screens 4. X-Axis 5. Auction house... 5. Beautiful environments 6. In game voice chat system...Not sure if I'm right on this 7. Better dances...Srry Guild Wars WoW Con's 1. Monthly fee 2. No linear story 3. The place is just way way too big 4. Character creation is basic 5. Too high a level cap 6. Areas are not instances Pros/cons are opinion based but all statements are facts -reply by Jedi Eclipse |

WoW sucks
Guild Wars Vs Wow I have played WoW for almost a year and I agree with most people of hating the idea of paying the game each 1 or 2 months.I'm about to start gild wars, and every kid I've asked says that pvp in WoW is borring, and I got borred with it just like they said I would. Also my friend told me that other players wont steal your loot in GW just like they did in WoW.And the graphics in WoW are poor, like a cartoon from 2003 -reply by Goral |

I think WoW is the winner for many reasons.
1: Can be run on more than just windows 2: The game runs smooth on any computer 3: Oo so shiny 4: More players to contact with I do like the fact that i can go to the coffee house with my mac laptop and play wow and have it run beautifully. I have played many massively multiplayer online rpg which includes Ultima Online, Ragnarok, Starwars ... drawing a blnk, Anarchy Online, Everquest 2, and Final Fantasy X but only 2 games made me keep playing for a very long time and those are Ultima Online(until it started to suck) and WoW. And i would love to play a trial of guild wars if they have one. |
