OK, I will keep this post very short.
I deny a lot of hosting requests lately solely because a lot of the applicants have posts shorter than a text message. It does NOT matter how many posts or credits you have if your posts are shorter than 3 lines. Yes, a few can be shorter, but I have seen several here that had posts with 5 words at most. That is immediate denial. If you have problems with posting longer works, then please halt your efforts here but make them at http://www.trap17.com where posting rules are less strict. I apologize for using a big font, but I am hoping this will have more impact on readers. |

I can definetly appreciate the how at times finding a topic that catches your attentdion and pulls you in can be hard and thus making a decent post is difficult. Just wait, bide your time, look around I'm sure that you'll find that topic that you need will happen. If it doesn't start one. Hey I'm sure that you have something you might need a suggestion or 2 with, like how easy is it to code a PHP forum while hanging upside down in gravity boots. So take your time and lets all have fun with our sites.

Lol, great idea Logan. I don't know how many of us regularly consider doing that, but hey, each to their own.
Moon is right in that you should try to make longer posts in the forum, for a few reasons. One is that, as moon says, you will not get hosting approved if you do. Another is that long posts have more useful content and therefore contribute more to the forum. After all, if you came to asta looking to increase your knowledge about computers, short posts aren't always going to be very informative. The above said, everyone can have days where there brain is emptier than a wrung sponge, and no-ones going to get in trouble for posting some short posts, providing it's a small amount of their overall posts. |

Well I wrote this after seeing a lot of hosting requests from people with bad posts. And I am making this a true war LOL It's just, there are 2 sites. One for each audience, so we must benefit that to the max.
I know how harsh this sounds, but telling people nicely seems to miss its goal often |

Moon,
I totally agree with you, and though I made a "slightly" smart remark about it |

tadex - you just prodivded us with a classic exampe of what moonwitch described.
Take a look at your own post - what does it contain? No, let me tell you - the SOLE Original material it contains are the words Me too! why? - by you. Do you really think it makes any sense to make these kind of posts ? What do they really contribute to the ongoing discussion ?? Besides what sense can the other readers make out of it ?? This is exactly what moonwitch stated in her declaration.. these are the typical examples of BAD Posts, that get members driven away to trap17. Now tell me, is it really hard to write a FULL/COMPLETE SENTENCE and put up your query ? That would at least convey some meaning... |

I've started denying hosting accounts (I'm a moderator, and I feel it is our job, and the fact microscopic^earthling tells me to) based on the Quantity of Quality.
Many might say that one long, good post would get the amount of credits, but I don't think it brings to Astahost the type of contributions we are looking for. The idea of the PROFESSIONAL HOSTING SERVICE is to serve professionals and semi-professionals in return for an active contribution of quality information and discussions. A community of professionalism can't survive on general talk. Call me tight, but I think a lot of hosting requests are rushed, and so the need for a Quantity of Quality control. The more quality pieces you produce, the higher chance you get of being accepted. |
