As someone (I thought nils) already said it (more or the less), if you can touch it, you can break it. The problem is that if their someone walking around the place it gets really hard to keep them off your back. With those web cafe things it depends on the situation. You could somehow prevent the system to log you off after a certain amount of time though.

Actually, it probably is more like hacking than tweaking. Tweaking is already a real word which applies to modifying a program to do a slightly different task or something slightly more personalized. Such as changing the default color scheme. Many programs have built in tweaking for some things (like Windows changing certain colors of windows) but sometimes tweaking is done through hacking. That is the software version of tweaking. Tweaking is usually applied to hardware, though, and includes things like overclocking.
What we are talking about here is more hacking than cracking, as cracking is hacking for malicious reasons, and I don't view attempting to get free use of internet (available at my library and many others) malicious. However, the definitions of these three terms are not set in stone and are open to interpretation, so let's not get in a fight over it. If you are really interested, Wikipedia has good information. Search for hacking, cracking, and tweak. ~Viz |
