I think Jack Thompson is being taken a little out of context. I used to think he was a total nut-job. But then I listened to his interview with that game rado site. From listening to him, he seems to not really be as hardcore as everyone says. He actually makes some valid points. He is hardly the raving mad man everyone says he is. Every once in a while he will say saomething thats a little off, but for the most part he is pretty clear. All he really wants is for stricter enforcing of game ratings, and for Rockstar to stop bing suck dicks when it comes to their "shock value". Seriously, who is the braindead guy on the development team who thought it would be a good idea to have hardcore sex be part of the game? And they are really pushing it with the upcoming "bully" game. Jack Thompson for the most part has the right idea about things.

He straight out says that EA is in a vast CONSPIRACY with the PORN INDUSTRY and MODDERS to get porn into the hands of kids. Anything releveant he says is regardless, for **** like that destorys his credibility.
Not to mention attacking the sims 2 for being a pedophile trainer for content thats not even in it...****... thats like saying Saddam Hussein was in the right because some of his ideas made sense even though the ones that MATTERED were far from it |

I wouldn't go crazy into politics and blame Bush on this one. I think his problem is he wants to revamp the rating system. I'm not sure how they are going to go selling games after this goes down but, I guess we'll see

that what probably the only thing that kept parents from buying voilent games for there little kids |

Okay listen to this. I was in EB (Electronics and Boutique) about 2 months ago, there was this chinese woman and her child, the kid about 6 or so. maybe 2 feet tall if he was lucky. Anyway, she purchases him God of War. I just recently played that game myself, and my goodness was it violent. You could stab the things in the throat and throw them around with chain blades. Morale of Story, parents don't really pay that much attention to games. Some do, I'll admit. I think this is a little over do-ing it.

lol, this is pretty sad, not that i really use the rating recommendations any ways heh really it doesnt bother me much but i think it is a stupid idea to get rid of the rating system because just like you said, the parents need something to tell them the game is to good for them because the parents jsut dont know this stuff....

I agree with Koel, one of the biggest problems is the shock value that game producers are trying to create. Well, mainly just rockstar, but I think all their games are garbage anyways so I've ignored them mostly.
But it really boils down the player, no rating system or polititian or anything liek that really makes any difference. If you like a specific genre of game, you will go out and buy it, regardless of what anybody says of the game. Ratings are useless if parents don't respect them, and there are few parents that actually look at them. All parents do is complain about violence in video games after they see their kids play the games they just went out and bought. If parents (and politicians) are going to yell and scream about video games, how about they just actually be PARENTS and screen the stuff coming into the house. It's not that hard really, they just don't want to take responsibility for it, even though it is their kids...funny, huh? |
