I'd have to agree, Macromedia is expensive, but it is definately worth the money. Kind of tricky sometimes with all the code related to it, much different from HTML, but worth the time!!!

honestly, if you really want to create a great flash, use swishmax, it's smaller, cooler and easyer... for 3d i found a cool program, art of illusion, or maybe swift 3d, that's cool to! for average photo editing use paint shop pro or photo impact! biggrin.gif

QUOTE(guy @ Oct 4 2005, 10:15 AM)
This brings up old memories. Anim8or. It has to be one of the best free simple 3D animation and modelling program I have come across. If you want to pay a minimal fee, then GMax or something like it is about $20 or so. 3D Studio Max is in a league of its own. Although I can not and do not like doing 3D art, especially with complex programs like 3D Studio, the effects from people who do can be detremental. A designer, I have come across is very talented in the 3D world.

Just looked at the billybussey site. Pretty impressive! Do you know what animation program he used?

how do you make animation with paint...
but you could always do a quick google search, and i'm sure a bunch will load up. also, it depends what kind of animation you want...if you like want flash animation or gif animation...? for flash, swishmax is really good i've used that before. i think it's files are a bit big though...dunno
i haven't used animation a lot, but i just googled everywhere and like...used the trial versions of everything (now theres nothing for me O.O) but if money doesn't amtter, i'm sure you could find a decent animation program

I agree with a lot of what the others have said.

Flash is good if you want to gain a lot of the fundmentals of Animation but after that it pales.

A full blown package such as 3DS max, or Maya or Pixar's Renderman are great if your animations get complex.

I am learning Flash Pro 8 in school - awesome.
the educational version of studio 8 (dreamweaver, fireworks, flash) is only $350 USD

I have been trying to learn Blender (powerful free 3d/animation) for about 2 months.
The interface takes some getting used to. I am just starting to "get it" and starting to make
decent 3d models/animations/renders.

Art of Illusion seems pretty good. I started to learn it when I was getting frustrated with Blender.
Now that Blender is making sense to me, I won't use AOL anymore, I think Blender is MUCH more
powerful.

Seems like people either love or hate flash. I aspire to do graphic/web design for a career and I think
Flash is in demand at the moment.

Just my 2 cents.

For 2d animations flash is the best!
For 3d animations, 3dstuido, lightwave, Maya, Softimage.
