I was intrigued when I first heard about it, since theres some potential but I'm withholding judgment. Basically I'm going to wait and see what happens with them as far as third party stuff... they seem to have a lot of potential for fun little homebrew style softwares so I figured if theres anything that catches my eye in that department it might be worthwhile getting one but otherwise I'll be saving my money for various other stupid things I could spend it on like girls and booze.

I'm not one to go psycho for apple products that come out, I've never owned any iPod but they've always seemed to be decent when I've used my friends'. That said I'd never buy one when they first come out, like all tech waiting for the price drop makes them much more worthwhile.

At one point i thought of getting an ipod, but instead i got a PSP and a DS Lite for the same price, and i can get them both to perform many more functions than any ipod ph34r.gif

You are totally right about comparing ipod with PSP and DS Lite. Regarding the size, and the price, it will be totally more worthwhile buying a PSP or DS lite. But I would say PSP is better. tongue.gif

Bought an Ipod 15GB 3rd generation a few years back. Had fun with it but only for those music that I've uploaded into my ipod, just can't seems to get it out. I think that's about some copyright issue there. But definitely would want an itune which can do vice-vers transfering. Anyway now got a PSP and I've stop using my ipod. biggrin.gif Some much more I can do with it and can even check my emails from the PSP. Ipod touch is just another of those ipods with better storage and better interface. Just some thoughts. Cheers

Thanks for the info. The new Ipod touch has a sleek design, but I haven't had the privilege of trying it out yet. Apple has come out with a lot of Ipod versions this year. The prices keep on going up as well.

heres what i find a bit amusing. the 16GB ipod touch goes for more money that the 160BG ipod classic. Thats is 10X the size for less money. Does a touch screen really matter that much? Seeing i would never need 160GB of storage on an ipod i could go to 80GB or whatever the next lowest is and save even more money. lol could you be any more ridiculous for buying an ipod touch?

I would guess that the iPod touch would have to have a helluva lot of features to cost 10x more money than the 160gb ipod video. The prices should go down for the holidays... even thought apple decided to release the ipods in the 4th quarter. It still should go down some more I hope. Maybe the new Zune would give iPod a run for its money, even though I doubt it, since iPod has become more of a fashion statement than any other mp3 multifunction type player.
And I think that you're paying for screen size and the 'cool' factor when you buy an ipod touch. If you like watching your videos on big, but yet highly portable video screens, then the ipod touch might be just what you're looking for. Everyone I know who has something like an iPhone always has people wanting to poke at it and check out the features. So I think if you crave attention, an iPod touch might be what you need to get it too. But hey, it's my two cents... probably not making too much sense. lol

With new products constantly comming out reguarly it would be enough to make any buyer unhappy, say they couldv'e just bought the latest ipod and now the ipod touch comes out. There really is no point in getting them, they get outdated from their own company super quick plus the price is just ridiculus.

I own a creative zen (being a person that hates ipods, theres so much hype about nothing i don't get it) and it does pretty much kick the ipods, it's cheaper, has every function an ipod has plus more and works great. In fact works better than an ipod.

In my opinion apple have just found out a massive money sink - untill people realise that what their buying is crap and their getting ripped off.

Thing is that Apple knows how to market to the younger crowd, like me. However, the iPod is nothing more than a hard drive-based MP3 player with an ARM processor and an iTunes interface. You can't even change the damn battery without cracking the whole thing open! I find MP3 phones are a better offer.

Their computer products are a lot better, it's better built, but I still have complaints with it like it's upgrade policies and the transition to Intel (which I still oppose to this day).

I never liked ipod's much either.

That and the price is ridiculous, considering I have 2 that are so much cheaper and have lasted for a couple of years, and the other quite some months, with great battery life, and really nothing else to complain about.

A touch screen is nice but certainly not at that price.

Reflecting on this a bit more, it's what you pay for technology of the future. It's what many people say shouldn't have been on the market for a few years, but it is now!

Plus, unlike Microsoft's Zune, you can make use of your wifi connector on the ipod touch, and jump on a wireless connection and go on the web.

Not to mention ipods are more of a fashion statement than anything else.

They're really cool, but only mega rich people could afford them.. Maybe if they lowered it down to $100 or $150 I might buy it......
