Yeah my room is very dusty, we don't have pets and things but the dust just never seems to end.

I cleaned it out aswell as possible only yesterday (to see if this would aid the CPU TEMP readings my mobo was giving me but it didn't seem to).

But I snapped a piece from the plastic holder that holds the fan and heatsink off so the whole piece doesn't quite fit on 100% evenely (but shouldn't be a problem).

And everytime I have to take the darn heatsink off I swear the stupid thing cuts me lol.

I think however it could do with some thermal paste/goo it's looking pretty thin atm but I have absolutely no idea where to get the stuff and how much it costs, I'm in Sydney (AU) so if anyone knows where to get any around here and how much it costs i'd appreciate it (might aswell give that a try if I can).

I didn't think heating would be a problem seen as I have 4 case fans, video card has a fan, cpu has a fan, power supply has a fan and I have a house fan that runs on the outside at either Setting 2 or 3 pretty much 24/7 depending on the weather.

Sounds purely hardware, to me. If you had an average of 25-30 degrees, and just recently went up to 70-80 degrees, then there's something seriously wrong. Something seems to be out of orde on the cooling part.
My old laptop had never been "un-dusted" after a few years of daily use. When I started noticing performance problems as well, I decided to install Notebook hardware control. My average temp. of around40 to 45 had also run up to 80 and up.

Opened it up and the entire area around the PSU was clogged up with dust. Cleaned it out and used canned air to clean it out. put everything back together, booted and it ran smoothlier than ever before.
