I use Windows almost exclusively, but I have played a bit with Linux/*nix. I like the idea of Linux/*nix, but it really isn't feasable for me. I need something stable that I can get work done on that is easy to use. Windows does that (it doesn't crash that much on me, I don't do much gaming). I a few years, I would like to try out Ubuntu linux, which is a great mixture of Windows' usability and *nix's fundamental principles.

Honestly, I prefer linux, but have been using Windows for most of my life. Why? I mostly game and do occasional graphics work (never had a mac), which Windows satisfies as it's the "norm" of all operating systems. If you're not into things that demand a windows environment, and you like computers, try to learn how to use linux. For a starter, it's challenging and takes a while to set up, but it's worth it. If you mostly use your computer for borwsing, word processing, etc. there's no reason why you can't use linux.

I've always liked Linux/Unix but I prefer Windows OS because I'm so used to it and all the programs that I need to run is available for Windows and not so much for Linux. Don't get me wrong, Linux is a great system but it's different for everybody because of different needs. I'm considering on switching over to Mac OS X in a few months though since these new Intel Core 2 Duo Apple machines can run Windows and Mac on it.

Linux and Mac are good in their own ways, but i would definitely go for the Windows Operating System. This is mainly because windows is more professional and user friendly, meaning it is easier to use in general. Linux is better than windows, however, in things such as multi-tasking, and MAC is better for publishing purposes, but i would recommend windows above all.

I supported Linux since 4 years ago, love it even now. However, I was forced to go back to Windows because it wasn't feasible for me to keep the dual booting, used up too much space. I had to abandon Linux natively, I might run it on VMWare later.

I'd always recomend and prefer Windows, because of ease of use, a wide user base, you get a lot of software for Windows.
