I had the same problem when I tried to connect 1 'SATA' & 1 'PATA' HDD in my system.
First time it work, I accessed all the Hardrives @ the same time but after two or three re-boot... My system got hanged & the same problem occured with Blue screen. because of tht I lost my 5.1 Inbuilt audio output. ==> The only solution for such problem is do not connect any such Hardware which is not supported by your motherbord... ==> secondly try to update Your system Drivers frequently. |

I am getting this error msg too.
1st It can be because RAM isn't compatible with your Graphics card (yes thats possible) and all you need to do is to set the right voltage for RAM (if you manage to know to which value you must set it.) 2nd Drivers (for your graphics card Bet you have ati or nvidia) 3rd Here's link to an old tread it lists many possible thing you can do to stop it. http://www.ntcompatible.com/thread27803-1.html READ CAREFULLY because not all errors are the same, so don't do something that you don't need to do. ex. Error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL happens when trying to SHUT DOWN. -Sorrow |

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL problem
Blue Screen - irql_not_less_or_equal I just got this new laptop, dell 1520 inspiron, got it yesterday, it had vista home installed and I tried upgrading to ultimate, at first I had hell but I googles and found I had to change from ahcp to ata, that was minor. Now the problem I'm haveing is I get the BSOD everytime I turn on the laptop, with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error, it then restarts and boots up and works ok. On the second boot it works like brand new, but the having to wait for a second boot isn't very entertaining, can someone help please? -Charmz |

I have had my share of IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL stop messages as well. After complete dis-assembling and part by part assembling, I could pin-point the culprit to be the newly installed memory module. I was aware of the incompatibility of modules with different clock frequencies, so I bought one that matched the existing one. Yet both of them would just not work together. The Stop error used to show up after 4-5 minutes of strenuous activity such as file compression. Although, games didn't trigger this.
Both of those RAM chips worked fine when used alone, but together they just seemed incompatible. Surprisingly, the chips are working fine when used in single channel mode. |

I had the same Error as all you guys.
I just removed a stick of ram and bam it worked. Put the chip back in, didn't work. Tried the same set of actions several more times with the same results. I was at the point where I couldn't even get past welcome screen before BSOD came up. I was also getting a Memory_Management BSOD when I was shutting down (long before I was unable to start.) -reply by eman |

For some reason even compatible RAM chips (compatible in the sense of Bus Speed) manufactured by different companies seem to cause this trouble. Recently, I got myself a new 512 MB DDR PC 400 module and it worked like a breeze when I used it along with the existing pairs. The manufacturers have got to look at things such as this. I don't if this problem exists internationaly. Quite a few of my friends here in India have reported the same problem.

Replying to FeedbackerI have this same issue with a DG33 board, I am running a core 2 duo 2.2 and it works great with 1 gig of 800 but everytime I add another gig I get the IRQL error, take it back out and the system stablizes. I have a total of 4 gigs (exact same part #) and can put anyone of them in by themselves and it will run fine, try to add more and it errors out every 15 to 20 minutes with no explaination. I have a systems montitoring tool and all temps are below normal except the ICH temp wich stays aroun 80 with a max of 91. I might try adding another case fan to see if it helps!
