The best response I got was from nightfox, and I'm about to go try it. If you guys have links to replacement programs (freeware only, please) or detailed instructions, those are much appreciated. Sympathy and mockery are acceptable, however not very useful thanks guys. we can give better results if you can give the motherboard model and maker for builtin souncards or the soundcard maker / chipsets. i always have one and i just popin the sound card driver installation if i accidentally uninstall it.. =) |

yes, I agree w/ vhortex, because, I too have a soundchip instead of a soundcard.
Also, was the special process thingy accessed through CTRL+ALT+DELTE? xboxrulz |

Well since you're working in Add/Remove Windows Components (I assume). Why can't you go back in there and see the ones you actually removed. Removing IE does not cause this problem as I've also removed it (well Windows like to pretend it's removed even though you can still run it). So it's got to do with the other ones you removed.
You should be able to re-add the ones that you removed, and hopefully this would restore them back, you should not need the CD, the files should still remain on the computer cause XP is sloppy at cleaning up. Cheers, MC |

There are a number of ways to fix this problem.
If you have not emptied your recycling bin then you can restore the delete items. Go to your Recycling Bin> and click on "restore all Files" This will restore all files in the recycling bin to where they were. Alternatively you can restore only the files you want to by clicking the file then clicking on the left side bar, "restore this item". If you have emptied your recycling bin you can Uninstall/Reinstall Nero6 Go to Start> Control Panel> Add Remove Programs Scroll down till you find Nero 6 and then click the button that says "Change/Remove" Follow the wizard to uninstall Nero 6. Then Place the CD for Nero back into the computer and reinstall it. If you don't want to do that then you can: Go to Start>Run copy and paste the following C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs Right Click and Select "New Folder" Then name that folder Nero 6 and double click it. Now right click and select New shortcuts Browse for Nero 6 using the wizard. By default it is located C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero once that is done, you can then close the window and click on Start>All Programs and you will see Nero 6 there. (note: this will not restore all the other shortcuts Nero creates.) |

It's alright, guys. I used nightfox's advice, and it worked! It took me a few tries, but after a while I figured out how to keep my old stuff and my new stuff.
Thanks for the feedback. Also, I have allocated my HD space better... I finally figured out that programs should go on the C:/ drive and data files on the D:/ drive. My dad was like "Duh". Anyways, thanks a lot guys. I now have my computer back in business! |

Well incase you were referring to Austiniskoge's problem, then I must tell you that it is not what you wanted... his problem was related to internal windows components.
For your problem, all you need to do is get a Nero 6 CD and re-install the application. You must be having Nero with you incase you bought a CD/DVD writer. Incase you don't find a Nero CD with anyone, and need to burn CD's in emergency, please get a demo version from Nero website. Also you may get some free CD/DVD writer softwares. Here is a list of some free burner tools http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/dvdcdburning.shtml |
