-Google's solution: Have the data categorized by idiots. Computers don't understand what's in a picture, normal people are expensive, for idiots that's only moderately challenging. Mask it a game and they'll go crazy for it. Make sure you reward them with 'points'. Problem: The ratings of reality TV shows are likely to drop, but what the hell does Google care? hahaha!!! That's EXACTLY what I see when I look at it. Anyways, there's nothing wrong with searching for images via surrounding context. Actually, google will search images two ways: 1) Context 2) File name. So, for example, "coffee mug" could be in the context surrounding an image of a coffee mug and the image file name could be "coffee_mug.jpg" and google will pick both up. I also have to go with Mark on this one. Google should be paying people about $7-$10/hour for this kind of labor. Oh wait, they don't have to! They have idiots who will do it for free and so google won't have to spend a dime! [N]F |

Well, although it's a service google is offering and I suppose should improve on their own with their own money.
You have to consider the fact that some or alot of us use this service, so perhaps contributing to improving it and playing a game at the same time is worth it no? That was the whole idea behind it in the first place, I saw one of the presentation videos and the guy makes it pretty clear as to the games purpose. You can pay for something like WoW or if you got bored here and there you can play the Google game for free and at the same time help improve their services (which you and others might just happen to use). Sounds like a fairly good deal to me? If normal games we see today could contribute like that how good would it be, besides the price tag, I think they'd morally have to drop it |
