I love laptops, I really want one, but there are some problems.
Price... even though a 3 ghz Celeron costs like 1000$ here. Gaming... arghhh.... a pc without games is just not a pc Batery life... unless you have 3 or 4 bateries... Well.. I think that's it, but still, I would love to have one. I write music (black-dark metal stuff mainly), so it would be awesome to go in the middle of the woods with my laptop and start writing some songs. (Well... I'm a modern life songwriter. Without a pc, I'm no one) |

I own an desktop aswell as a laptop ....
I use the desktop mainly for games movies and games... and programing .. because this kind of aplications take more procesor power .... and the laptop for internet surfing and the ocasional inbed movies I really can't say i would miss one or the other. I'm quite happy with my 2 pcs with versatility(laptop) and performance(desktop). I hope everyone could afford a pc "suit" of 1 desktop and 1 laptop.. this would ideal:D P3@cE |

Desktop...
Way better than a laptop for many reasons. I'm more comfortable with a desktop also. |

Desktop wins. I have a dual monitors, watercooled beast. I love my machine, it wrapps around me, i have a giant control station. My desktop does anything i need, i have my special split egronmic keyboard that im used to, comphy white leather chair. Powerful, alot of storage.
I have no use for a laptop, mainly due to the low battery life, and there still too large. I cant just take it out while walking somewhere down the street and check my mail. Whenever im sitting down somewhere, theres usually a terminal i can call my home and connect to my box. The ideal thing for me would be a powerful plam pilot, such as the old HP journatas. Not these little dinky things they have today. Somewhere between a lappy and a palm, the truth lies. If anything, buy a roll out keyboad to connect to it, keyboard being the main thing lacking on a palm. A laptop justs seems to gather all the bad of both desktop and palms together. |

Personally, I would by a desktop over a laptop any day. The last I knew, you can not get ATI X800's for a laptop.

this is a very interesting post...i love my laptop...just the fact that i can take it everywhere and anywhere...the only problems is...desktops still have more power
but yeah...my laptop is great, its not the best i have seen better, but there is always a desktop that is better...specially since my laptop cant have more than one cd drive desktops can hold bigger and better vid cards than laptop...bigger and better sound cards...for instance the audiology i have noticed that hl2 does run a lot better on desktops than laptops...altough the specs are the same...but still... very very hard to decide...but i think id take a great desktop over a laptop any day...at least untill laptops surpass desktops...hopefully |

I love my laptop, I've got a HP Pavillion zd7000 w/a 3.06 GHz Pentium 4 and 512 mb of RAM (hopefully 2gb soon!). I love the portability of this thing. It's great for movies with the widescreen and it takes up very little room in my prison cell of a dorm room. theft is an issue, but nothing a good lock won't solve in my situation.
