Great design, clean lines and curves.. But personally I don't really like the metal wormy things. Yeah, they're a nice eye distractor, but.. To use them on each header is maybe a bit too many.. But those are just my thoughts. Great otherwise, like your choice of colours. The only other thing I have to say is about the banner - it has a more "grungy" look about it, to me at least, and that does not really fit in with the rest of the page's clean curves look. But I guess that could just be me once again.. It provides a contrast, anyway. Well done.

Looks pretty good! I'd just like to list a couple of constructive critiques:
1. The Forum Activity and Featured content boxes aren't lined up with the Main Content box... I can't speak for everyone else's opinion obviously, but I personally have this thing with symmetry, I find uneven things to be a little nerve wracking :/ Also, the Featured box could stand to be nudged up a pixel or two. 2. I agree with sxyloverboy about the wires... They are a bit too much :/ I would either lose them, or try to blend them in a little more seamlessly. The lighting effects that were used are WAY too harsh, and there's no dropshadow or entry or exit points in the content boxes... So it basically just looks like pieces of wire sitting on top of the page. 3. This is more of a suggestion than a critique, but I think you should make the content boxes on the left side have an outer bevel effect (so the boxes look carved in, rather than puffed out) and then apply the same glass effect you used for the content box backgrounds as a mouseover effect for the links. 4. A little color never hurt anyone either, try adding a few shadows and inner glows with the same bluish green you used for the header, I'm sure it'd look great Other than all that, great concept! Be sure to post up the finished product, I'd love to see it! |

Oh my -- wow! This is really awesome! I've always wanted to make a site that looks very... um... I don't know how to explain it, but it's like how you made it. How were you able to make everything so 3-D though? I loved that part the best and I've always wondered how people do that. ^_^
I also liked how the colors meshed together really well -- not something that overly contrasts the other and not so... blended either. It fits well with one another. ^__^ Keep up the awesome work!! ^_^ -- scryoko |

If it's quick to load and easy to edit, then I'm sure it'll be good to use as a website.
I agree with all of sunblind's ideas and sxyloverboy's idea about those snake things. I don't know what they are but it's out of place. I'll give some thoughts about what I would change. I would get rid of that picsel winged icon picture thing near the banner on the right. It looks weird when you see it twice. A good thing to do with that picture is to maybe put a very faded image of it into some of of the background images of the links, shoutbox, or featured sites boxes. The home, Tutorials, Templates, etc text does not match with each other or something. The Home, tutorial, and forums text looked like they are moved to the right and the contact us text looks like it's too far to the left. All the graphic button images things should be the same height and aligned. The "links" image is more taller than the "main content" for example. Aligning will give your site organization and coordinance. Make sure that banner thing on top is not too big of a size, because there are people who have slow internet speed, which inhibits the computer's ability to download images quickly. I hate dial-up. Good thing I have cable. Putting some of the same links on top and in the links' box may not be very useful. Try to categorize your links and separate them accordingly. I can only comment about the look of it right now. It sounds pretty negative with all the suggestions, but I am not saying the site is bad. I'm a critical person, and usually, I like to suggest (:. Remember that the look of a site isn't everything. People will mostely be interested in the content and how often it is updated, unless the website was terribly organized. I've seen some horrible design. O_O It can be scary. Your stuff looks good. The 3d effect is very slicklooking. It's like you can rub your finger on it and expect a squeak sound. I like the grunge banner thingy on top too. |
