If you're just starting out with Web page design, you'll probably want to know at least basic HTML coding. It's easy to do, really. All that you need is Notepad and a basic knowledge of how Web pages work.

At the same time, there are plenty of advanced programming options that you can pick up and use if you want extra effects or more specific commands at your control. JavaScript, for example. Or maybe you want forms so that you can collect feedback from your visitors in one standardized format. Or maybe you just want to know how to get tables into your pages.

There's a great site filled with free tutorials that will explain - and demonstrate - just about everything that you need to know. HTMLGoodies.com is how I picked up a lot of the HTML and other things that I know today. (Okay - I don't know much compared to many of you, but I know what I want and need to use for my site). It's free, easy to use, and a great way to get started.

It's also well organized and searchable so you can find exactly what you want when you want it. There are newsletters (optional) in case you're really, REALLY into it.

This site is also great for people who just can't remember some basic HTML thing that they learned years ago. One that still slips right out of my head is "How do I set up frames again?"

Definitely a valuable resource. I learned HTML from here, mostly through copy+pasting code and then twisting it into the forms I wanted. It seems to have gone much more .. commercial, though. I miss the old orange wavey side bar! But it's still got some of the highest quality tutorials out there - not only for HTML, but Java, ASP, and others!

I've also got some help from that website in the past. Great help for HTML users!
