Hey guys and gals,
I installed phpbb all by myself (not from the AstaHost Cpanel) on onther webhost. I installed it there because AstaHost has a pretty old version, (ok, the previous version). No I need help in installing a shoutbox on it, I am really pissed off with those shoutbox which you will have to manually install. I have been tring nearly 5 different shoutbox for phpbb and all keep saying some error, I had installed one of the shoutbox completely but in the end, when I tried shouting into it, it gave an error, now I am asking if anyone here can set-it up for me for free, if not I'll ask the admins here if I can transfer my hosting credits (7 days hosting credits, that a lot,...lol) to the person who installs it.

If you are sure that you will setup the shoutbox for me, then PM me to get the username, password and the webhost URL where I have setup the forum.

If none of can, atleast give me a shoutbox script that really works, (provided you have tried it or you are confident that it will work), dont give me a link to some site where it's gonna teach me how to setup a shoutbox, I visited nearly all of them and they all suck. I really need this shoutbox and worst of all its URGENT! Please help me out!

If you really can do it, try getting me a shout like the AstaHost shoutbox and I know that the shoutbox AstaHost uses is D-Scripting and its ment for Invision Power Boards only, but try getting me something similar, anyway this is not a condition, anykinda SHOUTBOX would do. smile.gif

Please reply fast, I need that shoutbox and its urgent!

You can transfer credits to any other member by going to http://www.astahost.com/process/ and choosing option number 6 from the menu.

However - a couple of things to take into consideration.
1. You HAVE TO HAVE over 30 credits in order to be able to transfer credits to others. Even then, only the excess amount you have over 30 is transferrable. This means that, say you've got 35 credits - you'll be able to transfer only 5.

2. When you announce a reward such as here - we've something called a REWARD BANK. It act's as a RESERVE - and safeguards the helping member's interest. You need to transfer the desired amount into our bank so that it ensures the helping member DOES receive the credits in the end.

You can transfer it into our bank - the same way as you would to any other member. You've to go to the afore mentioned page and choose option six. Enter your own forum username/password next, the amount of credits to transfer and the receiver as BANK. You'll find the instructions there.

Upon successful transactions - you receive confirmation email from astahost about the credits transfer.

Also NOTE that - for each transaction you perform, there's an additional surcharge of 3% over the transfered amount. This goes to Astahost's coffers biggrin.gif

Well I am not receving any replies, I would reward you 7 days hosting credits if you just set the shoutbox on my phpBB forum. It will just take you 15mins to set-it up if you know what to do. Please help me. I need help and be quick on your decision.

Setting these mods up can be a pain sometimes. I set one up for my forum before (not phpBB though...) but took it down short after.

I can help you set it up if you want in phpBB. Might take more than 15 minutes since it's been a while since I played around with phpBB. Shoot me a PM if anything.

Hey guys, thanks for the help, I figured out another cool thing, visit this site http://www.phpbb2.de, if you are going to install phpBB any day, then you must install this version, no difference from the usuall member point of view (there are some) but when you look at it from the admin's eyes, its a feast. About 25 mods come preinstalled with the main package (i.e. phpbb 2.0.20). Also you can install many other pacakges latter very easily.

You have all of them possible security-threat mods on a security-flawed phpbb forum software. I thought you were a wiz with security?

All mods come with a Readme for installation. Follow it through and it should work fine.

If it doesn't come with one, then I suggest you look for one that does.
