I have an older motherboard, and before I upgrade to a new pc, I would like to replace my old video card. I want something that will be able to handle (to some extent) some of the newer video games - Doom 3, etc. I am impartial to the brand, but I would like to stay with ATI or NVIDIA. I had a GeForce 4 4800SE, and I am definately looking to upgrade from that.

My budget is $100 - 150. I have looked into the geforce 6800 gs I believe, which competes with the gt with about a -$200 price deduction on it. I don't want the best available. I just want something that will maintain steady framrates through most of the games out today. Any advice or past experiences are welcome.

certainly you can go for the 6800 GS, and I highly recommend it since it's better than the Radeon 9800XT.

Plus, it costs around $90 something (USD) or $100 (CAD) if you know where to look.
