There has been news that the 2nd beta version of Vista has been released. It is also said that they will be releasing it soon. The hardware specs has also been released. QUOTE Hardware requirements for a Vista Capable PC are a modern processor with a speed of at least 800 MHz, 512MB of system memory, and a graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable. A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC has a good deal more requirements. It also needs a graphics processor that runs Windows Aero, which Microsoft defines as a DirectX 9 class graphics processor that supports a Windows Display Driver Model Driver, Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware, and 32 bits per pixel. The graphics processor for Aero also must meet the following requirements for graphics memory: 64MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor less than 1,310,720 pixels; 128MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor at resolutions from 1,310,720 to 2,304,000 pixels; or 256MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor at resolutions higher than 2,304,000 pixels. I'd just like to say this : Along with fooling us into buying thier OS, which cost a fortune, Microsoft has gone one step further -
So, all set to make the consumers of the world bankrupt, I don't think anyone would like to be bankrupt IN ADVANCE and be the first one to do so, even BEFORE the OS is released as a stable version (Nevertheless, its not stable then anyway)!! -Omkar Ekbote |

How exciting... a new windows. Soon XP will become the "old" system and out of date. Uuurgh I hate having to upgrade!
It better be worth it though. We need lots of smoother slicker faster windows action otherwise they're not getting my buck! |

As I have a bandwidth limit of 10gb, I can't afford downloading the 3.5/4gb builds. However they're mailing me the Vista 2 build, which I expect soon.
I was a bit dissapointed in the september build as it had performance issues which have been addressed though by now. QUOTE Along with fooling us into buying thier OS, which cost a fortune How come fool? What if a product is made that dramatically increases your productivity etc on a workstation. You haven't even tried it, and it's beta meaning not a single build released is final. Quite some prejudices you hold there for a product line you're using yourself. QUOTE It makes US purchase a high-end PC costing another fortune. Not really. Only perhaps for the premium version for the Aero desktop switching. Also note that Vista will most probably run on apple machines as well, and those sold right now can handle it without a problem. QUOTE So, all set to make the consumers of the world bankrupt, I don't think anyone would like to be bankrupt IN ADVANCE and be the first one to do so, even BEFORE the OS is released as a stable version (Nevertheless, its not stable then anyway)!! Also note that Vista will most probably run on apple machines as well, and those sold right now can handle it without a problem. How do you know that it will work on a mac? QUOTE Also note that Vista will most probably run on apple machines as well ok, so "maybe" it will work? QUOTE and those sold right now can handle it without a problem. And you've installed Vista on a mac to see that it works, no problem?? How can you say that the current apples can handle Vista when you say that Vista will "most probably run on apple machines as well"... I'm just confused... [N]F |
