Microsoft Sound files were founded to be edited with a Cracked Software copy of SoundForge.
Dont belive me ??? You can check that yourself by opening any file in the [Windows location]/Help/Tours/WindowsMediaPlayer/Audio/Wav folder in notepad or other editors of your choice and looking at the last line. There you will find a reference to SoundForge 4.5 and also a user called ‘Deepz0ne’ who happens to be one of the founders of an audio software cracking group called Radium.” BINGO! |

Why does that not surprise me? That's why Bill Gates has so much money. The world pays for his software while he pays for none. That seriously is really funny though.

yep i can confrim this shocking news is true. it is however no secret that microsoft has little interest in consumer piracy only interest in the 'big guns' so to speak.
i have screenshoted the proof so any doubters can be silenced (i was one at first)

Hehe slow down dudes; i dont like M$, but i know that in big companies it's a long way to buy an external tool; so many developers that *know* that the company will buy a license use cracks so they can use the tools months before the company has the license.
Imagine: "Good news! Yes, we will buy the license for the tool which will help you to solve your perfomance problem! The licenses will be available in about three months!" What would you do as developper? Rollout is in one month... Right, astalavista baby... I think the same happened here, they just forgot to apply the real license. That shows to me that M$ does not "steel" other programs, they always bought other programs/ideas and made a good marketing with it, but they have a poor quality management; Cheers... JDrive |

Not too surprising, though amusing. I remember when the news came out that they were using Firefox at Microsoft, they did not categorically deny it, just said they would not comment on it.
I would use cracked software for evaluation purposes too if I had a deadline and did not have the licence ready, but then I am not a multi-billion dollar company. Nowadays, however, you really can't tell anymore what people will do. |

I'm not surprised, and nor am I shocked. With all these keygenerator and authentication crack programs around I'm not surprised they have been used at big companies. In fact, I believe on the radio I heard that one-third of all commercially-used software (at least in the US at any rate) is pirated.

I doubt he didn't pay for licenses. After all, they wouldn't have been that expensive and I am sure they didn't need too many. It would have probably just been a few thousand dollars and bill gates probably earns that much in an hour.

Souls makes a very good point, a few licences for Sound forge arn't exactly going to break the bank for any major company even for a commercial licence we arn't talking huge amounts of money really. What would be interesting is if this crakcer licencenced it at M$ as he is an employee there...
