Eternal Lands
The game is now in Beta stage, but that doesn't mean it is incomplete and it plans on being FREE. There are 9 skills, total character development freedom, many quests, religion, a lot of NPCs, animals and monsters. If you are a PKer, you can fight other PKers in special maps. If you are not a PKer, then you can stay on the non PK maps, where you don't have to worry about being attacked by other players. Fighting: You can fight monsters and other players, hunt animals, or join with a group of friends and take them on together!
Harvest & Manufacture: Mine ores that you turn into bars of iron, steel, titanium and make various armor and weapons. Or pick flowers and herbs that you mix together to create potions or magical essences.

I'm playing Rubies of Eventide and I can say its great game and really addicting. Maybe first impression isnt as good as on other games but when you will play a while you will see (or not ) thats its gooood

Guild Wars is a free online MMORPG. besides paying for the game, and an online service, the gameplay is completely free and absolutely immersive. It's not cheapy in any sense. A new installment of this game is coming out sometime this spring. it's a standalone or can be combined with the first installment. Again... besides paying for this second installment, it's free online play. I recommend it to any RPGers with thinned out wallets because of WoW or whatever else.

It's an RPG, but I'm not sure about the MMO part.

I recently found a free MMORPG called Martial Heros. Of course, it's based around martial arts in ancient China. The game itself is good, but the community has led me to find other games to play. When I do play, I tend to avoid most people. I've had to add a few people to my ignore list just to make them stop sending me messages about how much of a n00b I am and how fat my mother is.

Habbo hotel is one of the most well known RPG ever and is still around now although it is now full of noobs who know nothing apart from when ur in a que they say press F5 and makes u go in front how noobish is that.

I highly recommend a MMORPG called X-Kings.
It is turn-based and quite addictive. It isn't where you try to "build" stuff, etc. You buy technologies and attack others to get military experience. Using a specific mathematical formula, it calculates game points, which you attempt to obtain as quickly as possible.

Although there seems to be many players, over 60% of them are inactive. But there are still many, many players to attack, etc. You'll have lots of fun. Most importantly, join a guild! (I personally recommend XKingdom).
