I am interested in learning Java for programming since I would like to program GUIs for my applications. I have learned very basic C and Qbasic programming if that helps. I am looking for beginner tutorials that I can do in Notepad, not any integrated development environments like NetBeans or anything like that.
I understand that it is necessary to install the Java Developer Kit and I have done that. What is my next step now? Is this programming language easy to learn? |

Do you seriously think that I haven't tried a variety of search terms in Google already? Please provide some actual content, not a link to a page a search results.

I've started programming using the netbeans tutorials, they are clear, but don't offer you more than the basics for creating java application. Of course you'll be needing Netbeans if you follow these tutorials
Eclipse (another IDE that you can use for programming Java apps) has some tutorials on their website too, but I don't find them as clear as the ones on the netbeans website. http://www.eclipse.org/resources/?category=Getting%20Started |
