Any ideas where to get a good 3GP converter which is free and can converter more than 5 minutes videos?

My Girls Sony phone also makes videos in this horrible 3gp format.
I have also been looking for a way to convert them to an avi or mpeg.I remember downloading about 5 different apps to do the job.A couple couldnt even read the files off the phone at all.One managed to read them put took about an hour to convert a 30secs test movie to mpeg.The last one took about 30 mins to make the 30sec test into a 700mb+ avi file!! After all this I gave up!!! Btw Youtube allows you to upload 3gp and it converts it for you on the fly and puts into its flash video format so we know its possible...anyone got any ideas? Try getting the Apex Free 3GP Video Converter:
http://www.tompegx.com/3gp-video-converter.html According to the site, the conversion is extremely fast. I never used this converter before but from what I read online (and the links that Mark420 posted), it sounds like it will still take a while because the output file will be a huge uncompressed movie file

I usuallu use Media Coder from http://www.mediacoder.sourceforge.net.
It can convert most video & audio file types. Usually I download a youtube videos and convert them to .mpg using this software. It can also convert into .3gp, you can also specify what kind of devices you are going to put this .3gp so it will match the hardware. And don't worry, it's opensource, so it's free and no limitation. |

Great stuff, I have tried this out and it works great with the files from my gf Sony Wankisson.
Oh well problem solved..lol just as she is upgrading her phone to a new pocket pc. |
