What would happen if you ran a Windows virus in Linux using WINE?

Interesting, but that proves a point though, that the Linux designers started out with security first everything else second. Although I did find it interesting that running a windows emulator would in fact have the viruses kick in like that, but after reading the article a bit more it seems that the emulator is blocking the viruses from fully integrated themselves in to the Linux OS. Granted the Linux programming is different then windows and on top of that Linux is just not a popular enough OS for virus makers to design viruses for.

the resen that it is not popilair is that there ar more windows users as linux and that linux is better ritten and has less more bugs more windows users than linux users, yes. Linux being written better than windows ? Nobody knows. Most people believe linux is written better than windows and they only believe this because there are less malware and exploits for linux. The reason that there is less malware for linux is because less time is being put into looking for possible holes. If you would spend all the time that has already been spent into looking for windows-hole, into looking for linux-holes ... a lot of people would feel very sorry for even thinking linux was the safest of them all. You could compare it to the Internet Explorer <-> Firefox battle. Everybody believed that Firefox was a lot safer than IE ... but as soon as Firefox gained popularity, so did the amount of exploits. At a given moment, FF even had more new security issues than Internet Explorer ! Think about that |
