I've been here in Japan for almost 2 years. Coming from a tropical country, I could say that I love summer. But summer here in Japan is not the same as the summer in the Philippines. It's really hot and very humid. I was surprised when I saw the temperature at 42 degrees! No wonder that Japanese people would think of a way to ease the summer heat.
Japan's 'air-conditioned' jacket I saw this kind of jacket last month in a Home Shopping Channel. At first, I thought I just misunderstood what the host was saying (they're speaking in Japanese and the show didn't have any subtitles). Then a guy wearing the jacket came out and posed in front of the camera, while the host kept on explaining the features of the jacket. I was really surprised! Well, what can I say, Japanese are really creative! |

That is the funniest looking fashion assortment that I have ever seen ever made. A fan equipped with fans on their clothing. That is probably a laughable fashion statement from where I live, but then again how a person dresses and represents themselves is a matter of personal opinion. But to bring up a similar type of clothing that I thought was actually neat over embarrassing is regular t-shirts that have unique designs that is lit with leds and flicker in a unique way that causes people during walk bys to turn their heads just to check out the t-shirt. The shirt was found in a Las Vegas store. This shirt carried a battery socket hidden away that lights the shirt up. That was probably the coolest shirt I have seen, it did not look tacky either it looked innovative.
But to get back on the topic of the Japanese designing the air conditioned jacket, that is probably a very creative design on its own and initial incentive, but in terms of being fashionable I believe as well as many others it is high debatable. I for one would not be a great supporter of that type of item. I cant imagine having a shirt that have a couple fans spinning why Im wearing and walking around in public with it. Although the idea is very creative, it lacks the center of fashion sense. |

I think people who actually uses that kind of clothes are those who are working in manufacturing industries, and probably those people who works under the heat of the sun.
But for ordinary people, I think a regular clothes made from light-weight material are enough. And businesses implements "Cool Biz" in the office during the summer season. It means that people could wear short-sleeved polo and no ties in the office. |

QUOTE Actually I think that those clothes are wore on the streets of Japan as well. Been there 3 times and once I saw that kinda cloth was on the Street.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Its funny but at least it serve the purpose during summer. Honestly Japan has lots of funny and interesting stuff. And 1 thing I really like is the costume wear. If anyone been to Japan before, you would know what I meant. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Cheers Hahaha, really? Well, they're really unneeded if you're going to wear them in the streets. I mean, you could just take off your jacket and you might be cooler. It is quite amusing, but unneeded unless you really have to have that jacket on (i.e., under conditions where there's lots of sun or something...) I think I like that idea of an air-conditioned bed. Now that really would be useful....I don't have to keep windows open at night then. |

Heloo!! I have to admit one thing: japanese people are very creative. They invent loads of interesting things and modern stuffs that make our lifes easier, but I also have to admit that some of those are useless! This air-conditioned cloth is not useless at all, it have some purpose. We have to agree that it migth be a litlle bit weird, in my opinion at least!!! I could never walk away from streets wearing this kind of cloth. But... everyone has your own opinion... that's mine!
In other hand, the idea of an air-conditioned bed is really great and useful! I don't know in Japan, but in warm countries like Brazil, where summer nigths are very hot, it would be great. So I hope Japanese keep inventing things like that, because we cannot denay that they are a technological potency in the world! =) |
