Apple is going to celebrate for their one billionth
purchased songs download. They have launched
a countdown webpage for it.

The lucky user who download every 100,000th song
will receive a 4GB black iPod nano and a $100 iTunes
Music voucher. The lucky grand-prize winner who
downloads the billionth song will receive a 20-inch
iMac, 10 60GB video iPods(5 white, 5black) and a
$10,000 iTunes Music voucher.

looking at the counter on it countdown webpage,
I can see tons of users downloading songs like crazy...
but, before you download, please read Official Rules,
e.g. you have to over 13 years old; Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec)

Hehe, I wouldn't mind winning one of those iTunes cards.

And yeah, I can definitely see how this promotion is boosting the number of downloads. Wow, that counter's really flying!

I wish I had the stupidity to let me buy music downloads.. I'd rather get MP3's off limewire, or better yet, just go to best buy and get the CD, then put it on my iPod through my PC... But I'm sure iTunes is making tons of cash with that promotion.

Yeah. One billion songs at a buck each ... before taxes, licensing/royalties, operating expenses etc. of course.

I'd say that they made tons of cash, yeah. Even though a lot of people (like me) just use the free codes that we find in various places, there were (and are) still quite a few more people who will gladly pay a buck per song.

I would too, if I had a few extra bucks *grins*
